I have a canon t1i and 580ex ii. This setup works perfect in my in home studio which has 8' foot ceilings. however, I am wanting to add more light. I want to be able to go into anyone's home/business and light up the subjet perfectly. I am interested in doing portable light (slaves). Do you know what kind of slave would work with my canon t1i and 580ex ii . I know another 580ex ii on a stand would but I was looking for maybe a vivitar or something similiar.
Thanks in advance!

@Aura < tried that - I designed my logo and saved it in custom stamps. It worked for some of my images but for the rest the logo appeared almost invisible and pointless.

Well the reason I wanted to put my logo on the pictures is so that other people receiving the images will knw who took there pictures. And where I live - its standard to do that. The logo is small in the bottom left corner and doesn't interfere with the image itself. It's basically to send more clients my way. I've even seen some people put their logo on wedding prints (I do not think it should go on wedding prints) but it's just the point. And I also offer a copyright releas- so, yes they are getting the images but I want others to know where to come (which is to "moi") when they want their pictures taken as well.

I have two questions:
1.I use WHCC for printing but I am looking for a new company that can print my logo (gold foil printing) on the front of the printed pictures. Do you know or use ny companies that do this?
2.I offer my clients an option to purchase their images on a CD from me. How can I add a logo in photoshop (like an action) that will apply the logo to the same spot on every photo that I have? And what can I do when I have a batch of photos and some are darker or lighter where I place my logo and its very hard to read? I know I could add the logo to each individual image but if there is a faster way i would rather try it.
Thanks in Advance

Most of the time when i take outdoor portraits -i use my camera's (canon t1i) built in flash only - sometimes i use my 580exii
my question is: what piece of equipment can i use to prevent unwanted shadows (like in my client's face and on clothes)

quick question - how is this lighting done? Did they use background lights to light the backdrop and turn off the main light? Or what? any advice or other suggestions to achieve this look will be apprciated
thanks

I am driving my car in the MLK parade on Monday 18th to advertise my photography business BUT i do not know what I'm throwing! Of course candy but how can i incorporate my business? I found a few teddy bears in Office Depot that are gift card holders - so I figured I would put my business card in them but I only have a few (10) - any other good ideas that ppl wouldnt want to throw back @ me but actually take a second look to?
Thanks In Advance!

All of the above pics areof bride's and groom's together-
my question is - when do you take this pictures? It makes more since to take them before the wedding but brides dont want their groom to see them in their dress before the wedding and they're scared their dress may get dirty. And if you schedule the appointment after the wedding - or far after the wedding do you schedule it?
Thanks in advance!

thank God!! i was hopin it was something simple i'll try that && let you know what happens (...but im thinking the batteries are new) - hope not
and i did have the flash power to the max as well ;)

i have a 580ex ii and cactus wireless flash trigger v2 - both work great together - but my problem is that i have to wait for up to 10 seconds for the flash "ready light" (red light) to light up again before i can take the picture - is this simply b/c im using a cheap wireless triggering system or am i just doing something wrong? thanks
&&& im using ETTL and Manual for the 580xii but i prefer ettl

i have a canont1i 580ex ii 85 watt continuous light and 100 watt strobe - unfortunately i learned this is not enough power for what i want to achieve<<<well lit photos >> less post work in cs3
&&& since i can ony trigger the 580ex ii with another flash o transmitter
i was thinkin about gettin another flash that way i will have more power and be able to trigger the flash i have
question: 1. what are a few suggestions for another speedlite to trigger the 580ex ii (420ex? 550ex?) What would work best WITHOUT having to keep getting something else
question 2: do i need to have a softbox/umbrella fo the speedlites?
question 3: what do i need to trigger both lights (together)?
Also - if i want to create a "high key" light setup using a seamless white paper what additional light would i need then?
Thanks so much b/c i know i will receive GREAT answers && please send your email address if you can/want to b/c so many times i get great advice but we get disconnected

ok yea i suck! i tried to do this setup with my 2 lights and 580ex ii - i dnt think i have enough lights (power) the 85watts is def. not enough and i dont believe the strobe is reaching far enough and since im only triggeing it with my speedlite i dnt think its going off each time either> my results are coming out with a gray instead of white backdop
what light kit do you use or suggest for me? i'll just sell everyhting else except the 580ex ii

the strobe i have is in the link below it does have a modeling lamp it just didnt look that bright & white to me and "yes" the strobe does have a built in slave but the problem is if im trying to achieve the pure white backdrop look im placing my strobe such further away (about 9ft) from my camera and im worried about the strobe not seeing the flash from my camera

quick question: some times my camera doesnt allow me to go below like a 4.5 f stop - what does that mean? i need to adjust the iso or shutterspeed? and if so to what? thanks

-

I have a canon t1i -110watt strobe- 580ex ii and im thinkin about gettin another strobe same wattage- questions ARE: what do i need to trigger both strobes at the same? Also, if seen other photographers use there strobes where the lights stay on - does ths make a difference? how can i make mine stay on like the pic below
-

thanks all! tim you broke down everything for me - unfortunately my budget doesnt allow for four lights but you still explained perfectly on what i can do and the diagram from brooks but the icing on the cake! this is something i can do thanks i will post pics soon as i get the strobe in
oh yea- what & where do i buy the reflector white foamcore & Gobo black foamcore from & diffusion panel

-

thanks so far - soon as i the light comes in i will post pics so please check back in as far as the boom for the strobe that would have been perfect IF he ceiling was high enough and unfortunately its not > maybe 10' or so if that high so like you said i will end up having to get a light on each side OR now that im thinkin about it - i prob could get away with putting the strobe on the ceiling imma try it - it cant hurt - also if anyone knows. can i trigger my 580exii with the strobe if so - how?

i should have looked into vinyl but i saw a tutorial on zarias.com (i think that's how you spell it) so i grabbed that and it was only $60 with shipping as far as the strobe i got mine off of ebay too (inexpensive) how exactly do you put the light behind the subject<it seems like it would show or be in the way> or should i ask "how far do you have the subject and the light from each other and from the bckdrop"

Yellow Tint
in Lighting Equipment

What causes this yellowish tint to my images? Im shooting with a canon t1i and 580exii bounced off ceiling. I rather bounce light versus direct light for the softness. I'm shooting in manual. Any advice? I know how to correct this in photoshop but how can I prevent it? Also, if aiming the flash directly on your subject is there anything specific to use with the flash to make the image soft?
