  1. I would go with the D90 and use the difference for better glass. The D90 has the same sensor, most of the functions, and some quick dial in picture settings. The old saying is that it's always better to have a better lens and less expensive camera vs the opposite. Although I think the picture quality is the same for the D90 and D300.

  2. Knowing the D700 is full frame and D90 is DX and will crop the 70-300 range to 450mm. The question is which

    would have a better image, the D90 at 450mm or the D700 at 300mm and cropped post processing to match the size of

    the D90 pic. I hope I made this clear. I'm deciding whether I need to change lenses on the D700 or use the D90

    for reach.
