I took pictures of the same eclipse - it was difficult to establish a true focus, especially when the eclipse was at climax (10,000 to 100,000 times dimmer than full moon). I used a Canon 10D with 70-200 f4L.

I do have a small Schmidt/Cassegrain telescope - but have never used it connected to my camera. I should get a T-adapter.
A 2x tele-extender would also really help to capture more detail. I had a difficult time obtaining accurate focus at full eclipse, due to the relatively low light and muted apperance of the moon.

Somewhat bizarre, I guess the effect is intentional. I invite you to view mine at

One of the most pleasing photos on this site. Great composition.

Also wonderful stitching. I can't see the seams.

My parents are from NFLD Canada, so I have a special place for these marine birds. They have been referred to as clowns of the Atlantic, no wonder, as they can easily put a smile on people's faces. Thank you for sharing.

I agree with Neil about the distracting logs, but even with the logs it is a great shot, and good composition. Without the logs the composition would have flowed really well, with excellent sense of balance and harmony. Keep it up.

I found this fern just as you see it here, growing in an old train bridge that has been transformed to a pedestrian walk that joins the town of Tillsonburg to subdivisions seperated by a valley. In this valley is a well kept park with a stream running through it, I am sure there are opportunities there for some great scenes. If I catch something great there, I will post it here. Thanks for the comments.

Fill flash would have probably improved this back-lit image, and put "sparkle" in the eye. At the time I didn't own a flash for this system...
On the other hand, it makes the image more serene like this - I don't think the swan would have looked as peaceful with the sparkle.
Thanks for the comment.

Would appreciate comments. Thanks.

Would appreciate critique for this shot of 4 Whistling Swans with colorful and dramatic clouds behind. Thanks.

Despite the appearance of craters, no, he is not on the moon :)

I thought this was an interesting picture of a small arthropod. When I first saw this macro it made my hair stand up.

Hi,
This photo was longer shutter speed with a moving subject, so is not really sharp. However, I would like feedback about the composition and whether I "captured the moment". This is my first critique request. Thanks.

...I suppose you will tell us that it is hand held, too...
Thanks for sharing this with us, Bill. It really looks incredible at first glance. It is rare to catch a moment of lighting as perfect as this - and the cool sky and clouds add a wonderful backdrop to the scene.
I bought a Stylus Epic for my wife. I haul around an F100 with several lenses. Who is wiser?? Keep up the good work!

Hi Louis,
Great portfolio. Regarding the CD cover, the B&W is much better; it is emotianally very powerful.
