Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, you can gind information about it here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darjeeling_Himalayan_Railway. My attempt
to record it. The monsoon season in the Hills is devoid of sunlight,
making it very difficult to take pictures. This was late afternoon.

Taken in Darjeeling, hill resort approx 7000ft.

This is a picture of a steam loco (narrow gauge) running for the last 110 years approx. What caught my eye were the eyes drawn on the headlamp.
-
Taken during the monsoon. Very cloudy day at an altitude of 7407 ft.
Slide film pushed 2 stops.

Beautifully exposed.

If there had been sunlight streaming in from the right it would have made the shot excellent!

Dear Joel
Please read the country field above carefully. It is Nepal and not India.

Damn good. I have been to Shantiniketan but I could not get a single shot to match yours.
Email me if possible at smdeep@yahoo.com
Keep up the good work

fantastic!! Never seen anything like this.

Very nice photo. I notice that your lens is listed as a FD whereas your camera body is an Elan. How did you get your FD lens to fit an EOS body? I have an EOS Rebel G. Can I do the same? I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Brian
That is not a chimney but a switchboard in my bedroom. Like I said since it was totally unposed I could not tell her to change her position. I could not find a different viewpoint since my bedroom is too small. I think I will photoshop the *chimney*. Anyway thanks for the comment and I am glad you like the picture.

The photograph works because of the shadow. Not only does it not distract but helps the viewers eyes to focus on the child's face.

Please comment on candid portrait

This is where I end up when I am with my wife!!
Your work is just too wonderful for me express in words!
-
I have cropped out the offending object!

In Darjeeling it is not mist or fog during the rainy season, it is
actually clouds that one is walking through with no sunlight to be
seen for days on end. My wife and I were returning home when she
turned to say something and I just clicked.

A very excellent photograph indeed!!

Dear Helmut
I can understand what you mean. I lived across the place for two years and I would see the place in sunshine and shrouded by mist.
I took the photograph only to see whether the mist would be faithfully reproduced.
As for the cropping some of my friends suggested I do not crop so I put it up as it is.
Anyways, thanks a lot for the encouraging comments.

Is the photograph appealing?
