1.
I've veen considering ordering a set of UT 14 ink carts for my 1400 for b+w printing. My question is can you switch between the color and b+w carts and if so, what are the key considerations to weigh. I assume you have to do some kind of flushing of the print-heads to make the switch and I'm quite willing to go thru that process if need be. Can anyone give me some guidance/advise?

Joe Burns

 2.
I am looking for a resaonably priced option (<$100) for my Canon 40D/EX 430. I've considered the off camera shoe cords but they all get pretty negative reviews in terms of build quality/durability. Would some kind of flash adapter with a PC cord connector be a better option? The 430 ex does not have a PC cord connector so I'd have to put the adapter on the flash and run the cord to the camera. There seem to be a lot of options so I guess I'm just looking for a few good suggestions.
My main interest is macro and general portrait photography.

 3.
I use LR 2.3 on both a laptop (Vista) and a desktop (XP). I have a 320 gig portable HD that I use primarily w/ the laptop and an external 1TB HD I keep connected to the desktop. When I transfer images from my CF cards my procedure is (usually) to connect the 320HD to the desktop and save the images to it while backing them up to the 1TB drive for storage. I do this via LR interface and work off the 320 HD drive in LR (I don't put any images onto either machine's internal drives to keep thing simple and conserve space). In this scenario the 320 HD is the G: drive and the 1TB is the J: drive.
Yesterday I transfered some new images with a different procedure (no desktop involved). I connected the 320HD to the laptop and transfered the images to LR via the LR interface. Here's the problem - in My Computer the 320HD is now called the I: drive and LR only recognizes the images I transfered yesterday. The G: drive is still in the LR navigator pane but the images are not available since this drive is mapped as the G: drive. How could the drive mapping have been changed from G: to I:? That seems to be the problem in a nutshell.
Will I have to reimport all my photos from what is now the I: drive or is there some way to reconfigure the drive so that LR will recognize it and restore my DB?

 4.
I am just getting started w/ LR2 and did some developing of pics from my initial import. My problem is that now the program is telling me it cannot locate the files...very frustrating 'cause I spent a couple of hours cropping, etc. There is a ? mark next to the folder in the Folder pane.
I have since learned better how LR works and how to import folders and likely won't make this mistake again. But I'd like to not lose the work I've already done. Is there a way to find out where these edited images might be on my drive (if they are there at all). I have re-imported the original image files into a seperate folder.
Also, when you 'develop' a file in LR does it create a new image? i.e. if I opened an image directly with PS would the developed image open or the original file?
Thanks,
5. I am sort of in the same position as you - Xti about 2 yrs old, assortment of glass but only one EF-S lens (Sigma 10-20 which I really like). I like to shoot youth sports (I have 2 boys) and the 3 fps on the XTi is a drag. I will upgrade to the 50D at some point after the initial rush. If the 5D mk II had a better burst rate I might have considered it but for my needs the 50d looks to be a better bet. Plus, with my Sigma 100-300 f4 zoom I still have the extra reach. If I really want a FF body in the future I'd be inclined to buy a used 5D. The only real issue I have with the crop body is that my 24-105 f4 which is on my camera most of the time isn't as wide as I'd like. I will probably keep the 10-20 on my XTi so I don't need to switch back/forth.
