1.
Wow.

That's about all I can say to this post right now.
Jude, you posted here with a legit question looking for some serious feedback, and instead you've recieved a lot of immature, rude comments from people who seem to think they're high and mighty. There is some good, constructive advice from some people here, don't get me wrong, but a lot of it is just completely uncalled-for.

First let me say that I agree with never ever giving out unedited images. Our customers deserve the best quality we can offer, and quite honestly, giving them SOOC images on a cd so they can take them to Walmart and print them is definately not the quality they deserve. And sure, that couple can get their little Shutterfly photo book made with your unedited images, and brag to her friends about her "great" photographer, but seriously... it doesn't look professional, and it's not going to get you more bookings.

Secondly, who cares if charging a sitting fee is "becoming less and less used." I know many serious pros out there who do charge a sitting fee. To each their own, I say. They paid you for your time, and $75 is very reasonable considering what many people charge these days.

"I'll bet you that the people who said you were partly to blame for not being willing to give a CD/DVD are young people." - I'm not even going to comment on how rude that is. Enough said.

I'm glad you were able to resolve the situation, I'm sorry you won't be doing weddings in the future... it really is a beautiful business once you get going. And I applaud the way you handled some of the responses on this post. They absolutely did not need to treat you that way.
Best of luck in the future, I look forward to seeing more of your posts around the site :)

  2.
I've purchased 2 websites from BluDomain in the past, and I have nothing but praise for them. I purchased a $100 website from them, and I already had hosting on my domain name through GoDaddy, so I had to pay the extra $100 to Blu... which doesn't seem like that much of a big deal to me. I would have hosted with them if I hadn't already gone through GoDaddy (who absolutely has the best customer service).

I checked out your website, very nice :)

  3.
I love it! I have been debating on getting a ProPhoto Blog too, but I just haven't brought myself to spend the money yet. I love the colors of your page, very inviting!
My personal input... I'm not a fan of testimonial pages. When I'm scrolling through peoples webpages, I don't even look at the testimonials. I'd like to think the photography would speak for itself... not a collection of "wow you're so great" compliments. Just my two cents :)
I very much enjoy your blog. The beauty of having a blog is that you can talk about whatever you want, whenever you want. It's a personal reflection of yourself. I don't think it's confusing at all :)

  4. I agree with Rich... that was a very harsh response. Unprofessional and uncalled-for, if I do say so myself.

I think Allisons images are beautiful. The only "actions" I see that may have been used are some slight facial touch-ups, which, speaking as a woman... I have to say, the brides love it! The only thing I see done to these photos is a contrast bump and maybe a little too much sharpening. Her images are fabulous. Nothing "mediocre" or "canned" about them.

I can't say I know a single professional photographer that shoots on auto. I mean seriously. I thought this post was supposed to help someone get ideas and inspiration, not to tear down the photographer.
