  1. Gary,

Try the Orlando Wetlands Park. It's kind of hard to find so I will give you exact directions. Drive 40 minutes east of downtown Orlando on State Road 50 to Christmas, Fl. Go north (left) 2.3 miles on Ft. Christmas Road (County Road 420) and 1.5 miles east (right)on Wheeler Road, an unpaved road. Parking will be on your left. The place is full of birds including raptors, wading birds, and waterfowl. Also lots of gators, deer, and wild pigs. A great place for birders and photographers. Try it you'll like it.

  2. Let me first start out by saying that I have researched the photo.net

and read the posts concerning my question. I read the thread that Bob

Atkins started on the merits of med-format in nature photography

which was quite informative. The question which I really need help

concerns the submission of chromes to publishers for publication. I

recently sold an article and three of my photos to a small magazine

in Florida, so at least I've gotten my feet wet. The one argument

that I have heard is that you have a better chance with photo editors

if you submit med-format chromes as opposed to .35mm since med-format

since they are bigger and looks more impressive, etc. Is this really

a true statement or is it just one of those assumptions people make

because it seems reasonable. Has anybody had any first hand

experience with photo editors concerning this topic?

  3. I am in the market for a 4x5 large format camera to use for landscapes. I plan to do a lot of hiking over sometimes rough terrain, primarily in the Blue Ridge Mountains so I would prefer a rather light but sturdy camera. I have researched Winser, Wista, Toyo, and Canham cameras. Does anyone have experiece with the Phillips 4x5 camera and how does it compare to other field camera in your opinion. I tried searching the photo.net but could only find information on his 8x10 cameras. Thanks for any help you can give me.
  4. I'm really sorry to hear that about John Shaw, I've been a big fan of

his for a long time. Earlier this year I attended a one day seminar

by Rod Planck in Jacksonville, Fl. He was outstanding. The material

was first rate and he was soooo... patient with everyone, no matter

how foolish the question may have been. He treated everyone the same,

regardless of their knowledge of photography. During breaks he was

overwhelmed by attendees asking all kinds of questions and he never

once got impatient or short with his answers. Such a gentleman; and a

great photographer and instructor to boot!
