    Hi,

I like the idea of the image, however is there a reason that its not straight? Also I feel like the sepia might be a tad dark.

Also I migh have cropped it a little more just to lose the edges of the trees both left and right.

  1. Hi,

    Thanks for taking the time!

So stupid of me not to have noticed for this version of the picture. Its the bordering software i've used which has cropped the op of the head off and the right hand side of the circle base the guy is sitting on!

    Sorry

I like the idea. I really love lighthouses, I have been taking a series of shots around Italy to showcase there intrinsic beauty.

However it hurts my eyes a little to look at this picture.

    Hey,

I really like the change in crop I think it works really well with the subject of the vessel just lurching out of the water.

However i'm not sure on the loss of colour. The buildings over to the right look somehow blown out with white IMHO.

    Still a really great shot!

I really like this shot, tends to the vessel longing for the long lost challenge of going to sea. I do agree with Robert that the large black section forward of the bow and under the keel removes some of the emphasis of the shot.

    Really nice tho!

Thank you very much for your time.

I totally agree with you on the crop i think the tighter version is better as the chair is a little out of place. I see where you are coming from with the contrast on the face, but the guy had dark skin tone and I think it is a good representation of the person.

Again thank you for your time and your pointers very very much appreciated.

  2. I think this is a very good shot. I like the feel of the image as a whole.

Talking about rules, I am reading a book by Joe McNally called The Hot Shoe Diaries. In which it speaks about the fact that you can break the rules.

I personally am not the a great photographer, but I hope that I am working my way towards becoming better. I think that so much of what we do is down to personal choice on likes and dislikes that it makes it very difficult.

I say you have a great shot and for that I say from my small corner that this should be posted.

Keep on trucking. If you break a rule or to I wont tell.

I like the photo in general. I think there is to much light on the left hand side of her face which loses some of her features. Theres not to much depth and i like that too. Nice
