I had looked at the Canon Museum site before posing the question--and the question remained (and remains)--how does the same light perform the two functions?

So the orange light is a warning about insufficient light--how does it work as a battery check--with the lens cap on? I think I will just run a roll of film through it.

I was just handling my Prominent; I am trying to decide whether to keep it or de-acquire it. All those who have weighed in on wacky (*unusual*) ergonomics are right--but you are a fan. Is it the lenses, the build quality, sheer perversity, that keeps you using the Prominent?

Tried the irreplaceable butkus--no dice. So in the role of the light as camera shake warning--whattup if the ASA is set on 400 and I am looking at a subject in bright sun---battery works, "electric eye" kaflooey? (I am familiar with the Yashica GSN system.) No aperture adjustment or EV setting in evidence, or am I missing something? Thanks for the help, everyone.

This is the wrong forum, but I can't figure out the Canodate E's operation, and I can't find a manual. (Well, not one that I am willing to pay $15 for...) It seems to be "automatic" a la point and shoot with the batteries on board--but what is the significance of the orange light? Pressing down the shutter release lights it up--is it camera shake warning for slow shutter speed? Indicates it's ok to snap the picture? Inquiring minds want to know...

Et voila'! Just took a little more torque. Now what--is this lens a little tweaked, therefore hard to mount/unmount? By swapping lenses, the answer is...yes, the breech lock lens is a little hard to mount, so I won't. Thanks, Steve!

I ended up with a pair of T50's as part of one of those dreaded lots of mixed stuff on *bay. So, One has a broken battery door, but I have sourced a replacement for that, and once replaced, I hope it works. The lens on that camera mounts and unmounts using tab at 4 o'clock as you look at the lens from the front. The other camera fired right up when batteries were inserted, and everything seems to be in order (fingers crossed). I want to give these two cameras to a local school, and I tried to unmount the 1.8 50mm FD lens to inspect the mirror.
I can't get the lens to budge. The other one on the other camera (lens all black) was a piece of cake to dismount following directions in the online copies of the manual, and using the tab, but this one has me stumped. Lens Serial # 18354XX, chrome knurled ring closest to the camera, the red dot is at 3 o'clock...I give up, what's the secret here, for a non-Canonian? If the answer is obvious, well then, so be it. I ain't proud.
