Their burgeoning political activism about that time clinched it for me.

What activism is that? Do you mean advocating for laws and regulations for things like safety belts, airbags, clean water, etc.?

I normally respect Consumer Reports but I remember years ago they panned the Dyson vacuum cleaner for some reason. I bought one anyone and it's been great for at least ten years. Still going strong.

That was for dust emissions if I remember correctly.

The price of the product has a lot of weight in Consumer Report review.

Not true. They may label a product a "Best Buy," meaning it tested well and is low in price, but the tests themselves are independent of price.

Didn't read the whole thread, but in case it wasn't mentioned GWX is all you need.

Is it a high-gamut monitor? If so, colors can be off in non-color managed viewing.

Backwards compatibility has taken a back seat to corporate greed. It could be done, but how will they get more money from you then?

Unless you need dual monitors why not go with a standard desktop tower Mac and save money by not getting the monitor? That way you get the most processing power and upgrade-ability without buying hardware you don't need since you already have a great monitor.

You know you can drive a 10 bit monitor with any card right? Do you think you'll see a difference? I would only do this if I regularly used my monitor for scientific measurements with a colorimiter, IMO that's the only thing that could see a difference.

It's a legacy product. If they don't want you to be able to use it so they can make money, you won't be able to. As far as other S/W that supports it as a generic colorimeter, you'll have to research that (Google?), but it must have a working driver and I doubt Datacolor will update that for Win10.

They get you coming and going, it's why I stay on one OS as long as possible.
