  1. I am planning to buy an off camera cord for my 580 EXII to bracket mount above the 40D. I have read some reviews

that definitely warn against buying the offbrand cords. I was going to buy the Canon cord, but some reviews I read

today indicate that the shoe mount for the flash is flimsy and will crack in half under the weight of the 580 on a

bracket when it is being tipped on its side... Anyone have any opinions, alternate options or recommendations?

    Thanks!

  2. I agree with all of the above! I "upgraded" to the K10D from the *ist D in March.. I still need to "learn" the K10D more, but my *ist D was and still is a great camera! ( I upgraded to get the Shake Reduction system and the *ist D started getting random hot pixels... It is still in the bad as a backup though!
  3. I am currently using the 500FTZ on my K10D.. I don't like it! The P-TTL is so superior in flash control. I just haven't forked over the $ yet for the 560FGZ or a Metz....I use the flash on a bracket with the Pentax cables connecting it to the camera. It works fine (just takes time) if you want to set up a static shot or can keep your distances the same. I am using this setup for some weddings and there is rarely a shot taken from the same place and distance. I am SO looking forward to upgrading....
  4. I am currently using the K10D, Tamron 28-75 Xr Di 2.8, Pentax Fa50 f/1.4, Af 500 FTZ flash. I haven't been satisfied with the focusing of the K10D, to many "just off" focused shots. And I am sick of the flash not being P-TTL... You will say, why don't you upgrade your flash? I have thought of doing that, but I still will have the focus issue. If I am extremely careful, I can consistently get the shots in focus, but for action shots, moving targets, or even portraits, I have had series of shots just out. I don't want to ruin a series of wedding shots, a portrait session, or a kids bmx race due to just missing the focus. I have worried myself into wanting to move to the "gulp" other side of the tracks. Just a note, I upgraded to the K10d after 5 years with the *ist d. I never had the issue with that camera and the same lenses. I also have family members that shoot with Canon and the equipment sharing possibilities are enticing.
  5. I am considering switching from Pentax to Canon, for a number of reasons that I won't get into here. Are there any

general complaints about the 40D? I know all the DSLRs do some things really well and each have their

shortcomings.... What are they for the 40D?

    Thanks for the information.
