  1. Tahnk for the quick reply.

For now I own a D40, but I do love photography, so I do intend to upgrade in the future, but very good quality lenses is what i want, and all your responses here in this topic got me in a "wowwww" state.

I just could not resist to ask, because I do know the diference (not as detailed as you.. ;) ) from prime to tele, but could not understand if the Macro lenses stated above were prime, mainly because I searched and only come up with several lenses, not primes.

IS there any issue in using these lenses on a D40? I do now its a APS sized sensor, not a full frame, and must use it with manual settings, but it is a compromise I would love to have, just want the optical quality.

Btw, is the Nikkor 200mm listed above prime also?

Thank you once again, great site, and the discussions are simply amazing, learned alot in just 2 topics, great great.

Btw, I've looked in ebay to some equipment used in macro, like for example the adapter (sorry can not recall the name) that is used to focus and etc, milimiters at a time, but can not seem to understand how it works, and I can only find the main equipment, not the "arms" that came along with the most expensive ones. Can you tell me how it works?

I believe it is monted on the tripod + Machine, with the arms attached to the lens ring, using the knobs to regulate in a very precise manner the zoom/focus, am I right?

    Thank you!

  2. Sorry to bother, but I can not seem to get one thing perfectly clear for me, I do know its a very dumb question, but as I'm searching in the future for one of these, I need to know, are these prime lenses or tele ones?

    Edit:

    - Kiron 105mm/f2.8 1:1 AIS Macro

    - Lester A Dine 105mm/f2.8 1:1 AIS Macro (sometimes sold as part of dental photography kit)

    - Vivitar 100mm/f2.8 AIS Macro (*not* the 105mm/f2.8 Series 1 AIS)

    Thank you!
