1. Thank you for getting back

On the larger one, (12586) I managed to separate it and the silver buttons had just slipped round within the housing, I managed to re-seat them and put back it together, so that's fixed. the smaller one looks like the silver buttons may be missing though I can't get it apart yet to check. the one in the middle is working fine though the thread on the hood section need some attention as is very course.

    thanks

  2.
Just picked up films from M7 showing a very obvious light leak and on inspecting the camera there is a visible hole in the "white dot" shutter curtain. This has obviously been burnt by the sun, I'm currently trying to source an affordable repair (UK, if you have suggestions). The questions I have are: -
I've been using Leica M cameras for around 14 years and never had a curtain burn is it just bad luck or is it linked to the following?
I recently upgraded to M7 from M6s is the M7 more susceptible to this?
I have been using my 50 summilux a lot more recently are there certain lenses that are more prone to this issue?
in any case you can tell I'm gutted having just (6 weeks ago) traded a bunch of gear & cash for the M7 only to this happen to it, and you can be sure that I'll be more careful with lens caps in the future.
cheers
3.
It was cla'd by the main importer of Leica for Hong Kong (schmit marketing), they gave me 6 months warrantly with the repair so I may take it back...just annoyed as it was a shutter problem that was repaired (the shutter was hanging open at speed of 1/30s and slower).
thanks

  4.
It was very sunny at the weekend and I was using the 1/1000 speed on my M6 Classic and a few of the shots have come back with a strange shading on them (example below) is this a shutter problem? I have just had the camera CLAed because the slow speeds were sticking and I'd be very annoyed if after only 10-12 films from a full service it was a shutter problem. what else could it be?
thanks
5.
I recently bough a well priced second hand previous version of the 15/4.5 Asph (HK$2,000 mint in box with VF & M Adapter)... I've only taken a few pictures with it and really still trying to get to grips with when to use it...I'm very impressed by the build quality and the brightness of the viewfinder etc...the one thing I have noticed however is it's very different portrait vrs landscape, a couple of examples to illustrate

00UNex-169339584.thumb.JPG.28ac442dcac542a7af06b40ceb3e547e.JPG

  6.
I didn't get as far as winding the new film in. It was as I went to wind the leader into the takeup spool that I noticed it was jammed.
I've had a good peer into the camera and can't see any bits of old film, looks like I've a trip to the repair shop coming up, meantime I'll dust off my scruffy old M4-P.
thanks

My M6 (classic) has jammed; this is the first time this has happened, I've had it over 10 years and not encountered this before. I've quickly searched the forums but couldn't find specific help...
What Happened: - I rewound the film as normal, popped in a new one but when I went to wind it on it just wouldn't. The little "R" lever popped back into position but the shutter won't reset, it seems to be jammed and I don't want to force it, the shutter button is half down but won't fully push I did try pulling it back up using a cable release (advice from a forum post) but no luck. I didn't do anything unusual (it was 34C and 95% humid at the time so at first I thought it may have been just the heat). Looking at the shutter the blades are sitting half way through the film window.
The camera recently had an overhaul to realign the rangefinder and at that time the shop also fixed a problem that I though was with the light meter (it was giving erratic readings for slow (asa 50) films but they traced the fault to the shutter speeds and fixed that. Do you think they buggered something up while they did this? It's had around 10 - 15 films through with no problems since the repair. They did the repairs in house and as an aside I'm not happy with a repair they did on one of my lenses that had a jammed aperture ring (they fixed the jam but the whole front element is way too loose now).
I know the response will be take it to Leica and get it fixed but I was wondering if there was something easy I'm missing?
thanks in advance
8.
I'm heading to Beijing at the weekend and was hoping to get some better shots than my last visit.
The problem is the pollution/ haze. Is there any film/ filter combo that will "cut through" the haze or at least minimize it's impact?
I'll be taking my M6 with my 35, 50 & 90. I usually shoot a combination of Ilford's XP2, HP5 & FP4.
I would consider colour if I thought I'd get better results.
Thanks
