1.
Allan,
I'm in the St. Louis area and currently have nothing booked for October. I'm new to weddings as I'm shooting my 2nd one this weekend. If they are still looking and willing to work with me I'd be happy to talk to them about it! My website has some examples from my first wedding a couple weeks ago and in the next week or so will have some from my 2nd wedding! My contact info is on the website if their interested!
Thanks,
Wesley

  2.
I've not had a chance to play with my d200 in low lighting. Can anyone tell me what it's high end iso is before you start getting alot of noise in the photos? I just bought a 50mm 1.8 lens and can't wait to play with it when it gets here!

  3.
Basics = Color Correcting, croping, managing exposure, maybe removing some things from a photograph.
This place offers classes on Basic Composition techniques, how to use your digital camera (covers both P&S and DSLR cameras), they also have classes on photographing animals, so they are looking for a class to teach those that have a P&S camera basicly how to download them to their camera and edit them. All this with the intent of them being able to upload to their choice of websites to share the finished photos with family and friends.

  4.
I've volunteered to teach a class on basic photo editing techniques. I had planned on using Photoshop as that's the most popular program. But the center I'm going to teach at has asked me to research and find another program that the students could find for around the $20-30 price range. Does anyone have a sugestion of a decent program that would meet this stipulation?

  5.
I've not decided if I'm going to try and get into wedding photography per say. I've got the one in July and another one in August. But I'm not currently activly advertising myself because this is just a side job for me right now as I don't have the money or time to invest to go full time. But I'd like to get the best possible lens and flash i can for the budget I'm in ($500-600)

  6.
Ok I've posted before but my original post is aways down (or gone) off the list so here I go. I'm shooting my first wedding in July. My current kit consists of

- Nikon D200

- Nikon D80

- 18-135 1:3.5-5.6G ED

- 70-200 1:4-5.6 ED

My question is I was recommending some lens's on here in the past but it was a mixture of fixed lens's and ones with some range (i.e. Tamron 17 to 50F/2.8, Nikkor 85 F/1.8, Nikkor 35F/1.8). I just can't decided if I should go with a a fixed lens like the 85mm or go with somthing like a 17-50. Which do you think is the better option? The wedding will be outdoors with the reception following indoors.

  7.
Thank you all for your advice so far. I've gone ahead and purchsed a new D200 to use as my primary body and I'm in the process of researching the lens's you have suggested and the flashs. One question is I can't decided is should I get a fixed length lens or one with a range? I've seen both suggested here and I can't decided which way to go.
Finally I appolgise about my last post. I didn't mean to come accross snippy. I was having a bad day and it just came out that way. So again I'm sorry and I really do apperciate all the help I've gotten from these fourms!

  8.
I'm well aware that you should have 2nd body when doing weddings. However it's just not in the budget. You have to start someplace. I'm planning on checking into possibly renting another body. What I'm looking for advice on is what other lens should I buy. Do you have any good recommendations? Both weddings are around the 3-5pm time frame so lighting is not going to be a big deal except for the reception. I've done indoor events using my 18-135 lens and it did a good job for the lens.
The other option would be renting a couple lens's and possibly a body. what would you suggest.
9.
Ok so I just got booked for another wedding that makes 2 this year. I'm new to wedding photography and both clients fully understand that. It's even in the contract. So I'm wondering what should be my next peice of equipment to buy. My kit currently consists of a

Nikon D80 body

18-135 1:3.5-5.6G ED lens

55-200 1:4-5.6 ED lens

UV filter

Circular Polarizing Filter

Both filters only fit my 18-135 lens. My budget for spending is about $600-$700 for right now. I'm already planning on purchasing a SB-600 flash unit. So that would bring me down to about $400-$500 for another lens. Both weddings will be outdoors with a reception indoors. Any ideas/input?
10.
Ok I'm looking to buy a SB-600,800, or 900 unit. I have about $225-250 to spend. Can anyone recommend a good place to find a unit? Or do anyone have one their looking to part with? I shoot with a Nikon D80, 18-135 kit lens, 70-200 F/4-5.6 lens. I would prefer a 800 or 900 unit as they will work better when I upgrade my camera body hopefully this year.

  11.
So my office is looking at possibly buying new computers. I was wondering what computers you all have that works great for photo processing and storage. We would be looking to buy 6-8 towers. Here is what I would like to know
1. Where do you buy it from
2. What are the unit specs
3. Whats the unit cost
I look forward to reading your imput.

  12.
Peter,

I understand where you are coming from. I personally do the same kind of events in my area. The first party I provided a CD with images on it for people that hired me. However I've sense created a website on smugmug where they could view their images in a password protect gallery. Overall the response has been very positive. They have all liked the fact that they could get online and see the images. They also like the fact that they are able to send the page link and password to family and friends that were either at the party or were not able to make it for what ever reason.

This has paid off because I've had friends and family that have attend events order prints from my site. So I get the marked up price and smugmug takes care of the printing and shipping. I'm also telling clients that if they order a certain doller ammount in prints then I will provide them a CD of those images. As a result I've got a client that is getting ready to order about 80 prints from my site!

As far as clients wanting to print at their local wal-mart or whatever you have the option with Smugmug to allow the clients to download your image for a price. So if they want to do that they can go to your site and pay say $5 or whatever price you set for the image then they can go and have it printed themselves.

So overall I'm very happy I've gone this route. It also makes me feel and look alot more professional. I'm not saying you're not but this is just in my case. If you have any other questions I'd be happy to answer them if I can. Finally if you click one of the Smugmug links above it will take you to their site with my referal code. That will get you $5 off!!!

    lens

Anyone have imput on the quality of the following lens? Nikkor 28.80 1:3.3-5.6? I'm thinking of purchasing it for portraits mainly. I found one used for about $80. Any imput on if it's a good price and/or lens?
