These 7.5mm Nikkor lenses work wonderfully on the D810. The mirror stays up in LV, even as a photo is taken, there is never any contact between the lens and mirror assembly.
<a title="nikon nikkor 7.5mm D800 with the 55 1.2 D3" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
<a title="nikon nikkor 7.5mm 5.6 D800 mandarin view California Morning" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

It depends on what you want, the 5cm S F2 is an excellent performer with an interesting look that the newer lenses do not have, these are at full aperture regardless of exif

I have two of these, they do some magic, dreamy wide open, luminous low contrast closed down, easy to get an old photo look.

It is just the demolition of the Chula Vista Power plant near San Diego California, it was imploded early in 2013, you could not be very close to the explosions, so I had the 400mm on a D3 on a Tripod, there was enough light so it was taken at f8 for depth of field.

I waited anxiously for a new Nikon Camera, chose the D800E, placed a pre-order 2/7 with the most reputable dealer I thought I knew, B&H, and only one order. Now in June I understand trusting B&H was a big mistake. They have provided no customer service of any value, just prettily worded e-mails, and continue to take orders in June when not even the 2/7 orders are delivered. This all smells to pure greed, I have learned my lesson and will never come back to this photo store. Nikon also seems to be delivering randomly to all dealers regardless of how many orders they have.

With my particular 400mm f3.5 and teleconverters (TC14, 300, 200, 16) I do not get great shots at long distances, they are good shots but not great. At short distances I get fantastic shots!. Here is the Lens with a TC 300 and with 100% crop samples, on a D3, seems equally sharp on DX. These are focused by eye on the focus screen, at this focal length 800mm it is obvious when you are in focus. Also this posting reduces photo sizes, click through to the originals on flickr.
<a title="Nikon Nikkor 400mm 3.5 F/3.5 TC300 TC 300 by Rafael CA, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7004/6667106791_b66ab585ef_b.jpg" alt="Nikon Nikkor 400mm 3.5 F/3.5 TC300 TC 300" width="1024" height="682" />
<a title="Nikon Nikkor 400mm 3.5 F/3.5 TC300 TC 300 100% by Rafael CA, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7002/6667106725_759b9ea411_o.jpg" alt="Nikon Nikkor 400mm 3.5 F/3.5 TC300 TC 300 100%" width="1340" height="894" />
<a title="Nikon Nikkor 400mm 3.5 F/3.5 TC300 TC 300 by Rafael CA, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7173/6667106881_90b5181bff_o.jpg" alt="Nikon Nikkor 400mm 3.5 F/3.5 TC300 TC 300" width="1065" height="1600" />
<a title="Nikkor Nikon 400mm f/3.5 TC300 TC=300 100% Crop by Rafael CA, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7015/6667106965_e8670b5d4f_o.jpg" alt="Nikkor Nikon 400mm f/3.5 TC300 TC=300 100% Crop" width="985" height="657" />

Actually bought the old Nikkor 15mm f5.6 ai, not a QDC but the same lens. Took it to the Queen Califia statue garden. People say this lens can't handle bright lights and that it is not sharp.
Some nonsense gets posted, the nikkor 55mm 1.2 SC is better at the same apertures than the 1.4 - up to f8. The 50mm 1.2 is even better across the entire frame although not necessarily at the center. noct 58mm is not any better for most use, except for handling of very bright spots (lights at night) fully open, where its lack of aberrations keeps the bright spots from bleeding over into darker areas excessively. This photo is the 55MM 1.2 S, not the SC, same except for coatings.
<a title="Circle DR and the Vette by Rafael CA, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4107/5607535445_84320349ee_b.jpg" alt="Circle DR and the Vette" width="1024" height="681" />
