Yes, no flash ever for dance performances (it can blind them for one thing, and very distracting for the audience - so not allowed), so I often shoot at ISO 3200 to get some shutter speed and sometimes DOF. f2.8 @ 1/200th sec., so it had to be at the peak of the jump when she almost stopped moving.

He has already bought it and others. Thanks for your comments!

Especially with dance, which often has hard side lighting and very high contrast (dark background) and everything happens so quickly you don't get a chance to get the best angle. In this case she was at the peak of her jump when she was right in front of him, so ...

About the text - I know it's a distraction, but i have to protect the dancers from having this image used by others without their permission and putting the text over an important part of the image does a pretty good job of keeping anyone from snagging it, something which I gather is common on the web. Maybe I'm overdoing it?

what is in the public domaine. Images of known people cannot be used without their permission. I have permission to use his image, but not to give or sell it without express permission from him. I know what you mean about being honored tho. It's always an honor when someone wants one of your photos. Thanks for the input!

I look forward to you input. Thanks.

I love it when someone does something like this, makes it all worthwhile.
Let me know what you think about this one.

Love Toots, love this image!

composition is so-so, would have been better close-up of bassist, but he's overexposed and judging by graininess you can't crop it that much.

Look forward to hearing comments.

Nice contrast and composition, evokes the mood of the performance.

I like the composition with audience, but it's just too dark.
