1.
Thanks William, but I don't think that is the case. If you upload a photo to photo.net and you go to "request a critique" you see that photo as a possible candidate for a critique request. If you then request critiques for that photo it is removed from the list of possible candidates for critique. In my case there are three photos for which I successfully requested critiques but were not removed from the candidate list. I am not limited in the possible number of uploads or critique requests.

  2.
I requested critiques and ratings for all my photos on this site, but if I go to the menu item "request a critique" , three photos appear which are already submitted for critique and rating. It always was a single photo, but in a short period the number increased to three pictures. Is there a way to remove these from the available choices ?

  3.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Mike, you may have a point. Sometimes there is a bad contact between a lens and the camera and then I have to remount the lens to correct that. So contact cleaning is needed anyway.

  4.
@leigh
There was no direct sunlight and the temperature was about 10 degrees celcius. so the condition where not extreme. The AF system was hunting quite a lot because I had to capture the motorcrossers in mid-air

  5.
Yesterday I was taking pictures at a motorcross with my D300 combined with a 18-200 af-s vr lens. In order to catch the jumps of the contenders I used the af-c mode for focussing. After 20 minutes of quite intense use the lens stopped focussing. After switching the camera off for about 5 minutes there was some movement visible again in the af system. Only after switching the camera off for about 20 minutes it was fully functional again. Is this a matter off overheating ? Has anyone similar experiences ?

  6.
I gave the following comment on a picture:
A lovely little tiger. the background is somewhat disturbing, darker would have been better. cheers. hans
It was rejected cantaining unwanted tags. Which one ?
7. Thanks Lex, for your almost clear explanation.

    The sentence "Well, usually friendly. You'll get remarks from asshats too. But don't worry, they will perish in the perpendicular fires that toil ceaselessly in the bowels of the perpetually constipated cacodemon Valsalva the Grunt." is not completely clear but I think I understand what you mean to say. I also post on another website for two years (www.photosig.com). There they have some different rules. It is the intention there to write comments (with a minimum length) and give a rating (from -3 to +3). So you have to explain your rating, say what you like or don't like, otherwise your rating does not count.

    I notice that things are different here and I'll read more of the previous postings in the forum. hans

  8. I'm very new to photo.net and I'm wondering a bit about the critiques. Of course I love to get comments like "great, outstanding, beautiful ..." , but I would also like to get more suggestions for improvement of the pictures or indications on what is not god about them. I hardly ever see comments like that. Is it not appreciated here or people just don't do it ?
