  1. Thanks for all the tips, brought the camera today to a technician and he will now service it. He said that there is a problem with the electronics and he will reset the shutter speeds.
  2. I have tried all things you suggested with closed camera, open, set on multi batteries etc. I can hear the shutter "clack" when the camera is closed, but no matter which speed I set, the sound is always the same.

I have downloaded the manual but that does not really explain much about shutters, especially when it comes to the combination of body dial and prism dial.

I have heard that when you use the prism finder the setting on the body should be "off", on the big red point. The dial on the prism does not have the setting possibility "B".

I will try a roll of film now and see what happens... Thanks for all your ideas ! I am new to the forum and surprised how many helpful people there are.

  3. That is the problem. Both seem not to work. I tried the body without finder and it did not work. When i put the finder on, same thing. I looked into the camera with no film inside and could see that only in position B the shutter opens. It seems not to open under any other setting. I can only here the "clack" noise, no difference whichever speed i set the dials.
  4. Hi!

I just bought a Mamiya 645 1000s on Ebay and the shutter seems not to open properly.

I use a prism finder, so I have two shutter dials.

I think the top one has priority over the one on the body. When there is no film

in the camera I can see that the shutter opens when dial on body is on B, but on

all other speeds the shutter seems not to open.

What might be the problem and how much costs it to repair the camera?

Can I probably do it myself?

    I grateful for any tip!

    J.
