    Justin's Sunflower

          2

We were at a Baptism on this day. This was the "reception" afterwards.

They had fresh cut sunflowers as the centerpieces... something I know

little ones are fascinated with and make for good pictures. I took this one

of my son as he seemed to be seriously checking it out. I wanted to open

it in Photoshop and mess around with using color to emphasize elements

in the photo and I really liked the look I got here.

    Slope Of Flowers

          2

These are our two boys... I had been reading some issues of

Photographic and got to one about natural light, particularly at sunset,

and had wanted to try to capture our boys in the rays of the golden

setting sun. One day, whil on our way home, I spotted this slope filled

with flowers. It would be perfect! Took the wife and kids to the location

at sunset that evening and just used my G10. The only thing I did to this

image was spot healing on the little one's nose (he had a cut) and on the

older one's upper lip (he had a rash or something). I had initially replaced

the very top left of this photo with more flowers to make it look more

expansive, but I've really been trying to use photoshop less and my

camera's settings more. What do you think?

    Sunset Tracks

          2

My wife, 2 boys and I were on our way to dinner one evening and I drove

past this scene. I immediately made a U-turn (scared the wife) and just

had to capture this image. I saw the tracks glowing, like they were on

fire, but only from one vantage point. I made the mistake of waiting too

long for a sunset shot in Florida one time and lost it! I didn't want to

make the same mistake. All I had was my G10 in the glove box, so I did

my best. Lately, I've been trying to capture images requiring little to no

manipulation at all, but I was a little rushed here and I wasn't as in-tune

with the G10 as I was with my 5D... but this was an EMERGENCY!

  1. Eleanne:

I know! This was the only shot out of about 30 where hes not rolling around on the floor or completely covered by the flag. I was using a remote to take these so I could be close to him and help encourage him to continue playing with the flag. When I looked at the photos later, I was very disappointed that I didnt capture his whole head. Thanks for the comment.

    Orville:

    Thank you.

I might try to re-crop the photo to see if it improves the overall appearance, but I will more than likely try again with the flag shots. Great idea though... Thank you.

  2. This was taken with Memorial Day and Independence Day in mind. I let

him play with the flag and tried to capture him in a really nice

pose... he only lasted about 2 minutes, but this one looked really

    nice. c/c welcome, thanks.
