I made a tripod strap out of an old dog leash. The loop fits over the tripod head. The hook clips onto a fitting on the bottom of the extension tube. I had to tie a couple of knots on the ends of the leash to shorten it up but it works just fine. This saved me about $25.

The Canon 50mm F 1.8? This is an excellent lens, is usually under $200.00 and would fall between your other lenses in focal length.

Don't ignore Milwaukee and Southeast Wisconsin. There are a lot of nice spots along Lake Michigan. There are numerous lighthouses between Kenosha and Sheboygan. There are some round barns north of Milwaukee that might make a nice shot.

The controls on the Elan 7 are laid out very much like those of the 30D. The controls on the Rebels are set up a little differently. So get the Elan 7 and it will be much easier to go from using the 30D to the Elan and back again. I have an Elan 7 and a 20D. I recommend the Elan 7 very highly.

Here's a thought. Why don't you use the camera? It's a great camera. I find that even though I have a Canon digital SLR, I enjoy using my film cameras (including an Elan 7) more than the digital.. I like the results I get better too.

I have a related question. I'm considering a fuji 645 or 67 rangefinder. Does anyone make a polarizer especially for this camera? I can't find any mention of one. If not, would the polarizer made for the Mamiya 7 rangefinder work on the Fujis? Has anyone tried this?
