1.
Just by way of an update, I've heard from both the UK importers and PocketWizard, who have confirmed that the cables are as good as their own branded cables and are just as reliable. They seem to have agreed that the choice of wording is incorrect and will be altered for future manuals.

 2.
Yes that's the one Georg, thanks. It may be a subtle difference but it quite clearly says "cables and......"
I must confess I was surprised that the price was comparatively low compared to the Plus II's, it looks like this is how they did it!
Bad marketing in my book, smacks of deception, not what I's expect from PW.

 3.
The cable I have is the screw in type, but the overall build quality is poor compared to PW's own cables. They may be reliable, I'm just quoting PW's own instructions to replace them with the more reliable PW ones. If they'd said no cables were included, but then when you opened the pack to find some freebie inside, I'd have no issue with the quality. Personally I find it miss leading to say cables included only find they're inferior quality. They managed to do it right with the Plus II's so why not the new ones?
I liken it to buying a Porsche only find it has unbranded tyres on it, that may be un reliable, but just on there to get me home until I get some decent ones!

 4.
Ok, so I've been awaiting a while four these triggers to get into the UK, and managed to pick up four from the first batch that arrived in the UK. All good, until you look at the cables supplied. It turns out they're third party cables, which according to the instructions, it recommends you replace them with PW ones for more reliability! So effectively the ones supplied are unreliable.
It doesn't make any sense, to me, why PW would bother including sub standard sync cables with the trigger. Personally I'd far rather have no cables at all in the knowledge that you need to buy them separately for your particular requirements.
Now I'm quite sure its possible Pocket Wizard thought they were doing us a big favour by including some free cables, but that's not really the case, the cables are, by their own admission, unreliable. Obviously I didn't order any extra cables when I purchased my units, as I'd assumed the cables included would actually be their own branded good quality ones (as they were with the Plus II).
I've always championed PW products for their quality and most importantly their reliability, and here they supplying units with unreliable sync cables. Either include a proper cable or not at all and let us know we need to purchase cables when we buy the units. In the current market with many other manufacturers producing good quality and substantially cheaper units, it's becoming increasingly harder to justify buying Pocket Wizards.

 5.
Can anyone tell me what the effect of the Depp Throat softbox is as opposed to a normal softbox?
I currently use an Elinchrom 135 Octa, but they also make a deep version, does it just make the beam of light narrower without affecting the quality?
Any help much apreciated

But of itself the question and answer and the facts of how a model chooses to groom her pubis, neither constitutes pornography nor any association with it.

That is exactly my take on it.
Thank you for your input folks.

 7.
Personally I don't buy the natural argument, as in my experience, they all shave their legs and armpits, and cut the hair on their heads.
John A, with the greatest respect, the reason why is irrelevant, other than that is what my client has asked for.
I was really just curious about whether anyone had come across the issue of it being pornographic.

 8.
I rarely post on here so forgive me if this has already been discussed.
I've been commission to produce some art nude shots for a sculptor. She chose the models from a model site and I made contact as I'm an account holder. On contacting one of the models I asked if should would be ok removing pubic hair. Her reply was that she most definitely wouldn't and to do so would mean crossing the line between art and pornography.
I just wondered if anyone else had any views on this?

 9.
Ok so I've taken an interest in sports togging particularly Polo. To get the best out of the game it seems, to me anyway, you need two bodies one with a long lens (300mm +) for most of the time, and one with a shorter lens for when they're on top of you (70-200mm).

Just interested to know how you folk manage to change from one camera to the other, so quickly, without throttling yourselves?

By the time I've put the longs lens set up back on my shoulder and got the other set up from my other shoulder the shot has long gone.

Bearing in mind I'm generally standing and have no where to hand to put one body down while I shoot with the other. Oh, and I don't want to use a monopod, tried it a couple of times and just found it a hindrance.
Thanks

 10.
Thanks for the replies. I should add thatI do already use a x1.4 with the lens, (I didn't want to complicate things) making it 420mm, but still is not long enough, however the quality is superb!
As I have customers requesting A4 and A3 size prints, it looks like, from what I'm reading here, that getting a D300 with the same number of pixels as my D3s would help?

 11.
If I wanted to get more reach from my 300mm 2.8 (without resorting to a convertor, or new longer lens) on a FF sensor. Any ideas what would be the option for best quality.
a) use the FF camera in crop mode
B) shoot FF then crop in PS
Buy a crop camera (it's cheaper than a lens)
I could of course do the tests myself but just thought I'd ask here first in case anyone has already done it.
Thanks, Mark

 12.
Thanks for posting that and the advice Christiaan. I've only been to polo a couple of times, but had soon worked out unless you've got a multitude of bodies and lenses, you're going to be missing some of the action some of the time. I think I'll hire a 1.4 convertor and see how I get on with it. I'm impressed with the quality of your shot, I always thought the convertors deteriorated the image too much, looks like I'm wrong. I know I'll lose a stop, but as I'm on the D3s it will be able to cope with upping the ISO a stop, to counter it.

Nice. I tend to prefer the Ais 400 2.8, mostly with the 1.4. Most polo action seems to happen 'over there', especially when the horses are at speed. A very fun sport to shoot.

I know what you mean, this was only my second time at polo. First time was with the 70-200 which was ok when they're nearer, but I agree 400mm would have been nice, but unfortunately my pockets are not that deep!

 14.

The VR unit?

No, I think this was the last model before VR. I guessed that I would be mostly shooting at fast shutter speeds, slowest 500th sec. So no real benefit for the VR, and not to mention the damage to my pocket!

 15.
I'm looking around the second hand shops, and find I'm quite confused by all the variations! Does anyone know of a site that list all the lenses that nikon have made and explanations?

 16.
About £1000 ($1500) I suppose. I'm not sure I do need AF as want it for Polo matches and at that distance I guess I'll have a bit of DOF to play with so manual focusing might be fine. (though AF would be handy) It's a completely new area to me so opinions welcome.
