1.
One of the planners from a wedding I did wants to submit the wedding to be a "featured wedding" in one of the national bridal magazines.
Has anyone done this before? Do I need any kind of release form for the pictures? Can the magazine, after recieving them, do what they want with them?
This is uncharted territory for me.

 2.
Are you allowed to use flash?
If so, I wouldn't count out the zoom all together. I've shot a ton of Catholic events, and I find being able to stay as far back as I possibly can without getting major blur or camera shake is a good thing. You can't rely on primes completely because if you want a close up of anything you're going to be all up in the priest's face. I've never done a Catholic wedding or event where they allowed me on the altar (pretty standard) or allowed me to use flash, so I would find out what your "allowances" are and go from there.

 3.
Chris, you are right...even with travel costs it would still be a HUGE savings. I would just broach the subject with him lightly "Hey, considering I'm traveling to Montana to work for you, how do you feel about fronting the cost?"
Good luck!

 4.
I agree with Missy...take this time to reevaluate your business and improve creatively and in what you offer to clients. It has nothing to do with oversaturation, those who have the goods will survive. Look at it as a challenge to set yourself apart in a tough economy.

 5.
Wow, I don't have any legal advice for you as I am not a lawyer, but from a photog standpoint this is terrible. I would never dream of being so rude to a client.
I urge you to stand your ground, be the squeeky wheel, and make sure you leave reviews for this photog in the important places expressing your distaste. Other brides need to be aware.
