Hi.
I think I shall have a look around for a good s/h Canon 17-35 f/2.8L.
As I said, I own a Canon 1N and a 20D, I would like to upgrade the 20D to a 5D, so when I get small amounts of money
to spend its a "oow oow! What to buy situation" lens or camera upgrade? I have a good 28-70 f/2.8L and a new 70-200
f/4L also a Sigma 400 f/5.6 for playing about with. My gut tells me to go for a good Canon 17-35/2.8L lens, and stick with
the 20D for a little longer, but I do pang for a new camera, which would mean no money left for a decent lens.
Sorry for the waffle. With your help I think I've made my mind up..... I think. lol
Its a Lens!
Thanks everybody

Sigma 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Aspherical. With a big 82mm lens diameter.
Can people tell me how they rate this lens?
I would like to use it on a EOS 1N film camera and a 20D camera.
I've found one going cheap.

Just looked at postings by Mark Nelson and Dan Burkholder as Ann suggested (is Dan the pioneer of digi negs?).
So as is the case with many things, its all been going on for years without me. lol.
Well, I learnt something new today.

Thanks for all the comments.
Ann, what you said about making a digital negative was interesting, I was in my local camera store buying a flash unit,
and whilst chatting my query asked here came out. The guy there had been experimenting, making digital negatives and
doing contact prints approx 10x2. He turned his jpg image into a negative image in photoshop, then he printed this onto
overhead projector (stuff) plastic film/paper, then he would do a contact print with this.
He had some problems with printing onto the plastic sheets though.
I could do similar as to the above to get my jpg into plastic neg format, but print the negative image small enough so that
I can fit it into my standard enlarger then blow up as you would with any large format negative. [umm what a lot of
waffling]. Maybe I should just pay someone else to do this.
Thanks again for all your comments.

Hi.
I use both digital and film cameras, I scan my 35mm negs and print satisfactory prints up to 10X12.
I would like to blow images up to poster size plus without the expense sending them to a specialist shop.
Has anyone tried using a projector, projecting a jpg image onto standard photographic paper? or has anyone got any ideas how I can print
jpg images onto good old fashioned photographic paper, I have loads of very large sheets and the chemicals to do this, and would like to
experiment.

Hi. Thanks for all the info.
I have now found two Vivitar 283's priced at 19 and 30 pound UK, and also a Speedlite 011A at only 9 pounds UK. All
three are local to me.
I think the 011A is the one she would like, mainly for the styling and compact nature. So I thinking I will get her that for
her trip to Italy and maybe a 283 for when she gets back, but I'm slightly worried about what people have said about the
Vivitar frying the electronics. If that happened my name would be .......
The advice you all have given has been great, and made me think, and then choose.
Thank you all, and all the best.

Hi Peter,
I just spoke to the store and they have sold the 199A but have a 166A. They recommended looking out for a Vivitar 283,
which they rate highly.
If I can't find a flash unit in time, I may take your advice and get her a wide angle lens to experiment with. She has a small
digi camera that she can use for any night time snaps.
I sometimes use a 17-35mm 2.8 on a EOS 1N, and that is great fun.
Thanks for your advice.

I've just noticed the same store which is selling the Speedlite 199A, has a Vivitar 4600 + zoom head, so, yet another
option.
Yes, I could just ask the guy's at the store, but advice from people that definitely have used one might give a better insight.
Thanks Again

Hi.
My 15 year old daughter is in love with her AV1, although I bought her a nice EOS, she prefers her AV1.
In the next month I shall be getting her a A1, and see how she progresses with that.
She would like to make photography a part of her career. I guess she is working her way through the different
camera technologies, which I have to say is a good thing.
The question is:
I would like to get her a decent flash gun, I've seen a reasonably priced 199A, also a 166A.
I will probably go for the 199A.
Will it be compatible with the AV1?
Is it the best choice?
Will auto settings just not work on the AV1?
Are the manual settings easy to understand?
She's off to Italy next month and will probably take some shots at night, inside and out.
Lenses she uses are: Canon 50mm 1.8, Canon 70-210mm ?
Any advice would be most appreciated.

Angle Finders
in Canon EOS Mount
Posted
Hi,
I want to get an angle finder. I have a choice of two.. Canon Finder C or a Zigview S2.
The Canon is bound to be constructed well and does just as it say's it does. The Zigview has some nifty sounding gizmos.. but some write
ups give poor ratings.. I thought I would ask here before spending my hard to come by pennies.
What's your ratings for the Zigview S2?
Thanks All
