I read recently -- I think on the main photo.net q-and-a forum -- someone's opinion that the Canon 50 mm f/1.8 feels and handles better than the 50 mm f/1.4. Anyone else prefer the f/1.8 lens?
-
Let me rephrase: If I'm shooting without flash and using centre-
weighted or spot metering -- with, say, the 50 mm f/1.4 D -- does the
camera (F90x or F70) make any use whatsover of the lens's D
technology?
-
No, I'm speaking of the D lens technology, which I gather is
something else.
-
I know I've seen this in the forum but can't find the answer with the search function. My question is: Does Nikon's D technology only work in matrix metering mode?
-
In terms of all-round versatility, would you say a 50 mm lens is

-- A. A lot more versatile
-- B. Somewhat more versatile
-- C. No more versatile
-- D. Less versatile

than an 85 mm lens?

But not everyone buys an expensive body and puts crap lenses on it to
shoot nature handheld. Used intelligently, the Eos 3 presumably will
offer some real advantages over other EOS models.
-
If, as above post suggests, it won't improve the photography of
someone already using an Elan 2, then someone about to buy into the
EOS system might just as well get an Elan 2. There would be point in
spending money on a more expensive camera.

I imagine that with the 1.4 lens, you're also paying for the D
technology, absent in the 1.8.

Two-part question about the EOS 5:

1. How does someone in Toronto -- i.e. me -- buy it? Do I have to go through a U.S. mail-order house?

2. If I do that, how do I get warrantee service for it in Toronto?
