If not for anything else, I admire the sheer patience and determination this photo required. I was in Canyonlands (IITS section) 3 months ago and remember getting out of bed at 3:30 in the morning and driving for what seemed forever to get to Mesa Arch. Thankfully I was rewarded with a similar photo that Morey has out here. For those who are not familiar, there is but a very short window of time when the light reflected off the rocks lights up the underside of Mesa Arch brilliant red. Unless you are fully prepared this photo will never happen. Good work Morey!

Interesting silhouette.

Taken with a 600mm, yet it looks like it was
the subject was illuminated by a flash.
How DID you light the subject ?

Beautiful model, great lighting..just a
beautiful picture ! ( as seen through the
mighty Xenar )

I was there during fall '01. Unfortunately
my film didn't load right in my 80s camera and
missed several good oppurtunities. Nice shot!

reposting..after accidental deletion of earlier request.

A shot like this is the utmost test of patience.I attempted one like the above of a ladybug,
but my focusing was off by a tiny magnitude and the picture failed.I would simply name the
caption, "A portrait of a lady".

Very impressive. I am interested in knowinghow you reverse mounted the 50/1.4 on yourG1.

This picture should be a study on what years of cold dry mountain air and exposure to high UV radiation can do to your skin.

Instead of the rocks you could have let the
horses be in the foreground. The fountains of
the Gloriette would have been nice too. I took
some pictures there but unfortunately they were
badly exposed.

Whats he selling ? Let me guess...umm 125th street ?
;)

yeah, this one is much better than the one taken from the top of the E.S. buildig. Good composition.

I appreciate your effort in taking this picture and putting it up here, but this is a compostion that has been cliched over the years. To make it
noticable you could have presented the same scene differently, such as finding your way to the observation deck when you saw a thunderstorm approaching..
