  1. In Europe, the lens is for sale. (300mm and the 70-200 zoom). Yet nobody in the Netherlands has it in stock. Dealers only order it on request. They find it too risky to have such an expensive lens on the shelf, with no digital future possibilities... yet. Why would Minolta invest in these expensive pieces of glas if they do not look at the digital future? That DSLR will shock us, but like always with Minolta, it will take too long before they catch up.
  2. You are wrong! Only the newest 50mm 1.4 has a 55mm filter size thread. All type 50mm 1.4 lenses have only been cosmetically changed over time, exept from the circular aperture and loose hood on the latest model. <I>Nice!</I><P>

    If you buy the cheap but good 1.7, you have two options: old type with ribbed hard plastic focussing ring or newer type with rubber focussing ring. These rings are even small on both models. The lenses are the same. The filter size is 49mm on both. Not a big problem to choose!
