I have used Picasa2 for some time now, and find it quite functional as a cataloguer and basic editor. You cannot make a selection of part of a photo to apply any effects, but you can brighten, sharpen, etc. overall. Not bad for the price. I use other editors when I need extra capabilities, but Picasa does it most of the time. I've had my D50 since January (love it) and couldn't get Picture Project to run right on my laptop, which is a powerhouse, so I don't think it'a resource issue.
