1.
Hello,
I'm currently looking for a tripod but I don't know if it exists or not.
I want to explore long exposure and night photography.
I'm looking for something light, but heavy enough to not shake. Something that I can carry that won't be bulky, as I can't carry heavy things for health reasons.
Maybe something that would look like a long stick, but with pop'able legs for stability? Is there's such a thing as a tripod like that?
(Not a monopod)
As for the head, I'm not sure what I want.
The tripod I currently own don't have a rotating head and it's very annoying, so I'm guessing a rotating head would be better for me.
Thank you.
Oh and I have a budget limit of about 150-200$

 2.
I know it's an sempiternal debate, but I need to upgrade my computer and I need people's opinion.
I currently have a 7 years old gaming laptop. I can run PS CS6 fine except I have to keep everything else closed for it to get the job done and saving or processing a lot of layers takes time.

I know a lot of professional are iMAC users, and yes, they are pretty and stylish, but I need a laptop as I will also use the computer for personal reasons as well. (Can't afford both for now)

I looked at Macbooks. They're pretty and all, but expensive.
PCs have better prices and I'm used to them.
(I used a Mac in 1995. The one that looked like a box) but I'm opened to switching if it's going to help me edit.

I just can't decide.

What are you using, why are you, and what are the pros and cons of using MAC or PC when being a photographer.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you

 3.
Hello,
I would like to know in what format should I send a portfolio to art galleries?

I have about 12-15 photos that I took and worked on. I considered a book, but most galleries I consulted said "No books" and I just don't know how else I should send my work.

Thank you.

 4.
Hello,
I am here because I now have a portfolio and while I received many compliments about it from professionals I have met, I have no idea where to start to make money with my nature photography.
Because of health issues, I am limited as the when and where I can work but I take photos in the summer and work on inside projects in the winter.
I have about 50 photos I can work with, but I don't know where to go, what to do, or even how to make money with them. I was considering using sites like redbubble to sell prints, but my images would be 1 in a pool of millions or so.
I just need some guidance if possible to get me started in the right direction.

Thank you.

 5.
Hello,
My question is about blur. Even though I'm currently studying photography, I'm lacking the "practice, practice, practice" to fully understand what I'm doing, but I'm working on it.
My question:
I have 3 lenses. A telezoom, a zoom and a prime. All Canon.
My prime is my quickest. A 50mm 1.8.
I however get a lot of blur when I take pictures with natural light.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and I'd like to know what to do to fix it.
I have noticed that if my lenses are at the quickest/lowest F, I get less blur.
But if I want a big DOF, I can't do it without blur.
I get that a might need a tripod. But sometimes, for the shots I want to take, a tripod is out of the question.
And I have so many blur sometimes that I feel like I would need a tripod 99% of the time.
A flash? No problems. Except, sometimes. I don't want my subject to be lit by artificial light.

What are my other options?
Settings? Something I don't know yet?

Thank you.

 6.
I cannot believe the amount of information about business photography available here. I will spend the next weeks reading everything. So glad for this community.
Now my question.
I will be getting my photography diploma in about two months. I'm working on a portfolio and website as my final school project.
I however would like to start selling artworks with my images now. Posters, canvas, prints, cards. Since I'm starting, I would like this project to be cheap to make a profit. And if the printing company I work with can take care of the shipping as well, that would be marvelous.
Is there such a website that can do what I'm looking for?

Thank you,

 7.
Hello everyone,

Can you help me figure out how to reproduce this kind of light?
http://www.twitpic.com/ae1056
(See picture)

I have a Speedlite, Softbox kit, a big window, reflectors (5 in 1) and a diffuser for my flash. I also have white matte walls and a corner to bounce if necessary.

I just can't figure out what I need to do to achieve this kind of light like the one in the picture.

Thank you.

 8.
Thank you for your answer.
PC Sync input: I looked on my camera. I have 3 'things'. Don't know the exact word for ir. 1 for Video out. 1 for my remote shutter and 1 that looks like a mini USB.
Are any of those a PC sync input?

 9.
Hello everyone,
First I have to say that I'm still learning about lighting. I read the strobist and a book called Light, science and magic. I'm starting to get it but not quite yet.

Here are my question. I have a Canon Rebel XS. I'm going to buy a manual speedlite. The LumoPro LP160. I'm also going to buy a soft box kit at my local photography store that will allow me to use my speedlite in my soft box.

Do I need anything to connect to the camera and to the speedlite in order for the flash to fire once it's in the softbox?
If yes, is it possible to do it on a budget? I can be a wire rather than a wireless system in order for me to save money.

Thank you.

 10.
Reason I asked is: I'm currently studying lights. I saw that some people used softboxes but the light they use stays on while they shoot. That's what I'm looking for. Something that will allow me to take my time, analyze the scene and make my decision since I'm not good with everything there is to know yet.

I'm also looking at how to make high key images, and for that I need lights, but don't know what type. Hence I asked.

 11.
And if I want to use a light that will stay on all the time in a softbox, that isn't a speedlte. What should I buy?
I'm still learning but I want to go and buy a softbox today with a stand and the light I need into it to practice and work on my portfolio.

Thank you again for your help.

 12.
Thank you for the link. I started reading it and will finish later. Definitively something worth bookmarking.

I have another question about the speedlite. I looked at a few unboxing videos, and while I don't have the flash in my hand yet: What option would I select to keep the flash on at all times in order to use it in a softbox?

 13.
Hello everyone,
1- I'm looking for information about Speedlite. I own a Rebel XS and I'm currently studying photography online. I'm at the "Lights" module and they mention softboxes as a method of lighting a subject. I know I need a flash other than the built-in one but I don't want to spend 400-500$ for one. I'm considering shopping on Keh and I'm looking for maybe an alternative. Aka a different brand than Canon that won't be as expensive as the original but will still fit on my Rebel XS.
I want a flash with a head I can rotate to make the light bounce on walls and ceiling and of course something I can use in a softbox.

2- Studying to become a photographer and make it a living once I'm done learning and practicing, I started looking at photographer association. Things like PPA. Do you advice them? Pros and cons of using them?

3- Is getting the CPP necessary?

Thank you for your answers.

As always I'm thankful for this amazing community.
