They are very well done. Remember that a higher resolution needs a better lens. If you are thinking of upgrading, one day, to a higher resolution camera and you do not want to have to upgrade your optics, buy a better lens now. Both lenses I mentioned are suitable to resolutions between 10-12 million pixels in DX format and are adequated to landscape and to portrait, having the first place the 16-85 VR. Of course the AF 50mm f1.8 will be the sheapest and the best acquisition you will do for portrait!<br>

<p>Thank you for your contribute, John, but it seems that there are not any firmware update to DMC-LC1. I have the manual in paper and in electronic format and I could not find any reference about the firmware update or how to see the firmware version.<br>

I also saw the sites you provided and none about the DMC-LC1. I only found downloads for manual and USB driver.<br>

I am going to inquier directly Panasonic and see if they say something.</p>

<p>If your priority is quality, chose the aspheric version lenses and the less lighter, like the Summicron 35 1:2 Asph instead of the Summilux 35 1:1.4 Asph. If you need to work in low light, then your choice should be the Summilux lenses. The Summicron 35 1:2 Asph is known as the best Leica M lens! The 28-50-35mm (2nd) version is a very good start and you will be surprised with results.<br>
