I really like all of the shots in this series. I think this one has the perfect lighting. The strength of the light, and the angle are right on. I like the inclusion of the hat and tie. Although I don't mind the tattoos, they can be a little distracting, but in this image you have the subtle hint of the bumble bee. Great composition.

Nice shot. Great tone. The only thing that bothers me, is that the tree behind him is a little distracting almost looking like it comes out of his head, otherwise I like it.

Cool shot Simon. I like it as it is myself. That great sillhouette coasting across the clouds. If you wanted more detail on your subject, you could go with off camera lighting. Depending on the distance from your subject, and the trigger you might use you could light just your subject, and still have that excellent background.

In regards to the technical aspects of this photograph, I think you did an excellent job. Lighting, composition, focus, all are great. As regards the subject matter, I think it is up to the photographer to decide what it is that they would, or would not depict in their imagery. From the photojournalist stand-point a photographer is not condoning an act by photographing it, they are capturing an image of something that has occured, and to not show it then results in censorship. The only way that an image could be considered abuse, is if the photographer were to force someone to do something that they would not be inclined to do otherwise. I seriously doubt that is the case here, besides this is an image, it's highly possible that what we see here is not as it appears. Anyhow, this is obviously a thought provoking image. Very well done Martin, you've succeeded in making people truly consider that which they see.
  1. Great images Benjamin. Beautiful model. I like the expression on her face more in the first image, of the two I in fact like the pose in that one the most, as well as the deeper richness of color as there seems to be less reflection perhaps do to more dark material covering her body. Nicely done.
