<p>I have a Tonkina 12-24 ATX pro DX for several years. I bought it used on ebay. Have used the lens on a D200 and now a D300. I am very pleased with the performance and build of the lens. My thoughts are Photoshop can take care of any minor short comings compaired to the more expensive lens although I have not had to do so.</p>

<p>It's only if the lens is repeatedly removed from the zip lock bag does the silica canister require heating. The silica canisters are inexpensive so several fresh ones can be on hand to replace the spent one. I wait and heat several at the same time. I am now living in Thailand where the heat and humidity rivals my home town Corpus Christi Tx. on the gulf coast Since I have been using this method I haven't had any problems with fungus. As far as zip lock bags being semi-permeable if moisture does penetrate it must do so on a very gradual bases besides you can use more the one. I have one lens stored this way for over 6 months the silica canister still shows dry in its window. </p>

<p>I keep my lens in a safe. I put them in zip lock bags with small heat-able silica alum. canisters (re-useable). The silica canisters can be bought on the site we all love to hate.</p>

<p>Have a curious problem with a 2gb Extrema III Sandisk CF card. The card is several years old but seldom used never abused. I how have a D300 and 2 additional Sandisk cards 1-16gb Extreme III, 1-8 gb extreme that work with out issues. The 2gb card works good in the camera but when down loading to the computer a must format message comes up. The same card reader is used for all the CF cards. The 2gb Extreme III card has been formatted in the camera and computer several times with the same result. <br>

<p>I used Niks in Bangkok last year to repair a dropped 80-200 2.8 replace glass and seals. Approx. 6 months later the lens developed sever case of fungus. Niks refused to acknowledge their responsibility saying fungus is not covered. I have had the same lens in Chiang Mai Thailand for over a year before the repair with no problems. </p>

<p>Thank you I took the camera to a independent camera shop he actually had pictures of the D300 board on his computer their is a obvious burned area at the lower right side.<br>

One more thing is it possible to test the battery pack and batteries. This is a great forum</p>

<p>Hello ladies and gentlemen My question to the learned ones is what can cause a D300 mother board (for the lack of a better description) to burn or short out. Weather, moisture, dust, ruff handling is not a factor. The camera is a year old with less then 2000 actuation, at the time of the malfunction was using a battery pack Meika less then 2 months old I had about 40 pictures with it. The battery was I believe after market I had used the same with a D200. I was shooting indoors at a Reggy club using the pop up flash at times. My concern is the possibility of it reoccurring after the expensive repair. Its not in warranty. Thank you.</p>

<p>Can'r go wrong with a Meike just replaced a no name I bought from one of the big camera Co. on THE auction site. Not having all the above grips for comparison its a good possibility most of the GOOD after market grips are made by the same manufacturing co. and sold by different retailers. </p>

<p>On my past D200 and my present D300 the exposure compensation icon continually flashes in the top control panel regardless of what mode I am in. Thanks for any ideas and suggestions as to how to stop the flashing. </p>

I had PS2 loaded on my old computer when a NEF file was loaded a NEF conversion

window would open. The same PS2 program loaded on my new computer will not

activate the conversion window nor open a NEF file. I read through old posting

and down loaded camera raw 3.7 and 4.4.1 per suggestions with out luck.

Any suggestions will be appreciated thank you.
