Herringfleet Mill at sunrise, a drainage mill from 1820 on the
Suffolk/Norfolk border.
I'm not so sure about this one, there wasn't any direct light hitting
the mill - does it look a bit too dark?
-
An old one from the beginning of the year - my first go with my new
camera.
Still not sure about this one, the horizon feels a bit too 50/50 to me.

Went to Bawdsey for dawn yesterday. Weather was dreadful but the
clouds parted for just long enough to capture the sunrise.
-
Popped down to a near by beach for sunrise to check the camera and see
if I still remembered how to use it after 6 months or so of inactivity.
Was treated to quite a nice dawn, which made the 4am start seem almost
worthwhile!

Bamburgh Castle in Northumbria, taken at dawn.

A shot of Bamburgh Castle in Northumbria at sunrise.

Went to Happisburgh in Norfolk at the weekend to try out a second hand40D. Had a little bit of trouble as it kept resetting itself to theprevious owners defaults but I eventually got the hang of it.
I'm quite pleased with the results so ended up buying it, will beinterested in what others think.
Thanks for looking

Went to Bawdsey in Suffolk at the weekend, more to scout the location
than to take photos. However, it was a lovely dawn so I scrambled down
the sea wall to the beach as quickly as I could.
Managed to get a few shots before both my camera & I were swamped by a
wave - of which this is my favourite.
Thanks for looking.

A shot from sunrise on Saturday, taken just before a storm hit.
My filters were covered in a mix of spray and raindrops, no matter how
often I cleaned them and this has resulted in the shot having an
(unintentional) slightly smudged/blurred look to it I quite like.
Interested in peoples views on if it works as is... or if I'm just
trying to salvage something best deleted!

A shot of Herringfleet Mill from a while ago. I took it about half an
hour after sunrise using a Cokin IR filter - I used a custom white
balance taken from the surrounding grass with the filter on, which
seems to have given it a nice golden look.
I don't have much experience with IR photography, so any suggestions
or critiques will be appreciated.
Incidently, the vignetting in the corners is from the filter but I
felt the composition suffered if I cropped the shot.
Thanks for looking.

I recognise those trees! You certainly caught it at a good time, the Stour makes an almost perfect mirror when it's calm.
Like the figures in it, contrast nicely with the trees. I find the harsh reflection of the sun keeps drawing my eye to it & I'd have been tempted to crop out some of the empty field on the left - personal opinion though.

A branch lying in the surf at Walton-on-the-Naze in Essex, UK early one
morning.

A solitary rock lying on the beach at Saltwick Bay in North Yorkshire.
Taken at sunrise.
Just liked the water trails in this one.
Thanks for looking.

This is one of my very first landscape shots, and although I misjudged
the exposure and have blown out the highlights bottom right, it still
remains one of my favourites.
I just like the 'feel' of the shot.
Taken early morning at Benacre nature reserve, Suffolk.
Thank you for looking.

Five trees on the bank of the River Stour in Dedham, Essex, taken about
30 minutes before dawn.
I love this river, it's wide and slow, and on calm days it acts like a huge
mirror.

A lump of shale lying on the beach at Saltwick Bay in North
Yorkshire, with the Black Nab sticking up through the waves in the
background.
Taken about 20 minutes after sunset, as the last of the colour was
leaving the sky.

A tree branch lying in the surf at Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex. Taken
about half an hour after sunrise.
Thanks for looking.

Southwold Pier in Suffolk. This was a great predawn display, where
the light just went pink for about 5 minutes before sunrise. The wire
wrapped post might not be the most attractive foreground object, but
I liked the contrast between the broken sea defenses and the cared
for pier in the background.
Thanks for looking.

A section of tree that I found in the surf at Walton-on-the-Naze
early one morning, with the sun starting to rise on the left and the
moon setting on the right. The branches in this position made me
think of the tenticles of some old sea monster.

Five trees on the bank of the River Stour near Dedham, Essex. Taken
at dawn, at this time of day the river smooth and tranquil, acting
like a large mirror.

Sunrise at Saltwick Bay in Yorkshire during high tide.
Got a bit wet taking these, a storm front had made the waves a bit
more boisterous than I'm used to.

Not sure about the white wave at the bottom middle of the image, a
couple of people have commented that it spoils the composition.
It doesn't bother me being there but interested in what people think.
Thanks for looking.
