Thanks for all of your suggestions, I appreciate it. I think I will just play it safe and get a dry bag, and then some throw-away underwater cameras. I'll have to look into the pricing for renting an underwater housing, but I think I'd be too scared of not getting the seals perfect!

Galen,
Thanks for the dry bag suggestion, I hadn't thought of that because I really wanted to be able to actually take the camera underwater. Now that I am seeing the prices for housings ($3000+) I am beside myself! I was thinking a few hundred! Shows you how much of a newbie I am!
Stephen,
Thanks, I did a quick search but didn't find anything. I'll search again!

I just bought my first DSLR, a Canon 40D. I am wondering if anyone has found any underwater cases for their
cameras? I'm not talking SCUBA diving level water, just to prevent damage from splashing at the beach, at the pool,
etc... I'm going on a Caribbean cruise in 3 weeks and would really like to be able to take my camera with me when I
get off the ship at each port. The only problem is, along with the walking tours, I'll also be in water (kayacking,
snorkeling, etc...) and on ATV's and won't have a place to store my DSLR. Anyone have suggestions? If not, I'll have
to just suck it up and carry an underwater throw-away camera the entire trip!? :-(
I saw some Japanese models that looked interesting/trustworthy?? Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!<div></div>

Try Split Image Photography in Smithtown. I was in that shop once when I lived out there after finding good reviews about them online. I'm not sure if they rent but you can give them a call!
Good Luck!
