Hi Peter,
I have the M1, M5 and E3 including the 14-54 Mk1. I can confirm that the lens will focus much faster with the M1, basically acceptable, but not as fast as the 12-40 PRO which i just recently acquired. My main problem or dislike with the 14-54 is the size and weight compared to the 12-40. Sharpness and contrast are very similar between the two lenses. I hesitated a long time before buying the 12-40 because of the weight and size, but when traveling the zoom is very convenient.

I have the E-PL1 with the 14-42 and 40-150 kit lenses. Both lenses are excellent. I use the 14-42 mostly at f5.6 and the sharpness and contrast compare very well to my 14-54 lens. Obviously, the 14-54 is sharp even wide open at f2.8. Overall, these two "cheap" kit lenses are very good, except that the max. aperture is only 3.5.

I use the 50-200 SWD with my E510. The focusing is very fast and always right on. I am using this combination to
take pictures of my grandkids playing, it's almost as demanding as shooting sports!
Sorry, I can't compare to the non-SWD, but for what I have read, the SWD focuses faster.
Pen-F digital plus one wide angle lens. Which lens?
