I like this image quite a bit. It MUST be seen large to be effective and then it is that. This animal's calm and mean look at you is something that you feel like taking a step backwards.  A brilliant capture. Congaratulations Pekka.

    Bridge

This bridge was over the river Aurajoki in Turku, Finland.  Only a few  months after I took this photo it collapsed and traffic in the town has been diverted around for over one year. Today 19 September 2011 a new steel bridge with very similar architecture will be inaugurated in Turku and everything is back to normal in that respect. Engineers quarantee that the new one will not collapse.

Just by coincidence Princess Victoria of Sweden will be visiting Turku today as well.

I thank You very much for comments and appreciate your compliments.

My reason to ask why the image is somehow or in some opinions mediocre or very average was the fact that when I initaially posted it for rating it received right away some 4s and possibly even 3s. I just wished to know if there was something fundamentally wrong that does not catch my eye? That's why, for one important reason, I am here in the PN, to learn from my errors and misconcepts.  Rating 3 is definitely below average and causes me to become quite confused.

I agree very much with Pierre's comments. Maybe another shot of the other part of this monument (by Eila Hiltunen), the group of pipes in colour would make a nice contrast?

Tuli vain mieleeni etta ehkapa urkupillisto varillisena yhdessa taman 'nakoisosan' kanssa toisi jannittavan kontrastisen kokonaisuuden?

I will try next time around all your proposals and a fresh frame or without.

I had taken this image a long time ago in my cabin area (north-eastern Finland) and nearly forgot it in the jungle of my images. Indeed, however I recall that I did not pay too much attention to those things you speak about when I slightly edited the image that time right away. I really appreciate your comments.
