And these are your pictures http://www.photo.net/photodb/member-photos?user_id=2458102 ? Or your name happens to be the same.

Actually, a camera might be your answer. Check out the T3i's 3x full HD video feature.

That make my 17-55 f2.8 an equivalent of 17 - 165 f2.8. If you have a tele lens, T3i video will make it 3x longer without losing HD capability.

I bought the EF135 F2 on Nov 22/23 and B&H promised to offer me the additional discount.

-

Thank you Bob Bernhard for pointing that out.

If T3 has a sensor close to T2i/T3i in low light performance, I agree it is a bargain.

-

I believe the sensor of T3 is 2 generations behind the latest Rebel model T2i and T3i.
The price difference between T3 kit and T2i kit is $200 from Canon USA official site.

Using P mode on 5d2 makes me jealous.

-

If you are into video, the 3x digital zoom alone worth the price difference.

In my non-pro eyes, you are a good candidate for the upgrade. You should be fine with the new camera/lenses for your indoor need. It would only be challenging if your need includes indoor sports.
Don't discount the 18-55 IS kit lens. With that, it is possible you may not even need some of your intended lenses.

Interesting. I thought all bodies are made in Japan.

If price is the same, I would choose the one from Japan for now. 6 Months later, anywhere but Japan.

Gift card is the best approach.

I went with the 55-250 IS route, thinking to add a 70-200 in the future for quality shots.

However, the 55-250 is so good that I have a hard time justifying a 70-200 now....maybe until I go full frame...

When I purchased my XTI 2 years ago, I bought 2 generic batteries (I think @ 8 dollars a piece). They have never failed me.
Did you notice the seller has 160,000 feed-backs at 99.2% positive rate? If that can't be translated into trust for a $10 deal, I don't know what can be considered dependable.
Good luck.

Are you sure abou the $90 price tag? I thougt it is about 150 US dollars new.

If anything, I would add the EFS 18 55 IS only. No other lenses and no camera body either. That should be good to get you going.
I don't want to be RUDE, but skills are more important than gears. Good luck.

My IS lenses make "noise" also, especially noticeable in a quiet environment. I suppose "noise" is a good thing, here. Enjoy.

If quality is as good as EFS 18-55 IS and price is right, I will consider both lenses.

-

Sounds very complicated relationship. Would it not be better just to make the camera your own - be it 50d or 40d?

-

For your 1st shot, if you use center point AF, autofocus on the boy, do NOT recompose, take a picutre. Result should be better.

hummmmm. Not even one reply..... I know this is a SLR forum but thought you may have insight into Sony Point and Shoot as well...

Anyway, in case this post is searched in the future, we have looked at both w290 and w230 in 2 stores. In both cases, the pictures from w230 look better. That may or may not be lens related. We decided to get a w230.

Thanks.

Not from experience, but I have always been thinking to add the Tamron 28 - 75 F2.8 for portrait. I wish my EFS 17 - 50 is a bit longer.

Hi, there.

We are thinking to add a point and shoot camera - either a Sony w290 or a Sony w230.

Should I expect to see a noticeable optical quality drop - for still pictures - from w290's 5x zoom to w230's 4x zoom? Had the same 5x zoom been used in the earlier P&S cameras?

Your thought/experience is highly appreciated.

-

YES. Make sure you get a lens or two. EFS 18 55 IS is a good start.

-

If it were a "new" computer with Windows 98, do you still go for it?

Good stuff, Giampi.

Aperture wont open beyond 5.6?

Sorry for the late comment, I don't come often.
I am inspired to do better by looking at your pictures. Like the fishing pole picture. Ugly Stick? Hooked on bottom, maybe?
