I bought my 1.7 from the used section on Adorama...The grade was "D" for demo. Saved somewhere around $65 from new.. Know B+HPhoto also has a separate 'used' inventory also check the Equipment Classifieds on here...find many very nice products used and save hundreds.
Plus all quality camera components lenses, flash, teleconverters and everything else has gone up in price notiicably over the last year plus.. Seriously doubt it'll ever go down. So see something you want and can afford that now...Buy it and have it to use and no worry about rising price making it out of reach

I always check out potential buys on "resellerratings.com" they have a solid reputation and show every review submitted. One tip some very disreputable sellers post positive reviews to raise the store rating score. So when checking the reviews you can figure those negative reviews are likely more trustworthy.

Been reading lots of reviews and not one that compared the f1.4G vs the f1.8G rated the f1.4g superior to the f1.8 especially since it's about half the 1.4's price..
Both are excellent lenses but I just bought the f1.8G for my kit..

Actually why not just get the DR-4 it fits directly onto the D700...but needs the DK-22 to adapt to the D300..Got mine less the DK-22 for under $80 on KEH..They graded B but easily one possibly two grades higher..

Just received the DK-18 along with spare DK-22's. Tried multiple times to connect any one of the 22's.
If there is a trick to this please let me in on it..I would like to use the right angle viewfinder on all of my bodies.
The set converts rectangular viewfinder to round..Almost positive the reverse doesn't exist

Nikon Lenses have sphere shaped contacts on the outside of the lens body..Your phot shows flat contacts inside the camera mount...It isn't a Nikon mountable lens

I just keep an updated customs declaration form you get from the nearest customs desk..In the international departure area of the airport. Also located by cruise ship docks and at all border crossings..You fill out form list cameras w/ serial No.'s, any expensive lenses also w/ SN. You can also list jewelry and Ipods/phones etc.. After the customs officer verifies the form they draw a highlited line through the listings and sign the form.. I always make a couple copies of the form keep original in camera bag, one in your moneybelt (ALWAYS WEAR A MONEYBELT!!) another in your homes important papers file .. You only need show customs that form to prove you own the items on the form..If gear lost or stolen you'll have needed insurance info in your files.. Been to China, Italy and Costa Rica in the last 5 years and have always traveled alone and never a problem anywhere.
Have fun and stay aware of your surroundings, people ..Rule of thumb NEVER FLASH lots of cash..Only carry the money you expect to spend during any outing, you can always use a locked bathroom/stall to take more from your moneybelt..

I keep seeing that Canon users buy a Nikon lens and use an adapter ...why can't the opposite also happen?
Just learning...

Hi..born and raised in San Diego..follow surfers down to the water at the south end of Sunset Cliffs drive....while you're there check out Rosecrans National Cemetery and Cabrillo Light House (a Nat'l Park fees apply) and go down to the operating light house on the bottom of the point (accessible by Nat'l Park rd. go right just past entry booth...Check the view from Mt Soledad in La Jolla..highest point in the city.. Check Tourmaline Beach so. end of La Jolla There is always Balboa Park miniture railroad/carousel, picnicers..skaters runners plus at the Spanish Village is the local Photography Club..lots of photo suggestions there..Don't forget the zoo and the Wild Animal Park.. Del Mar Race season lasts til mid to late Aug. .. Have fun and bring or buy sunscreen!

The grip is rated at an 11 lb max but when converted to a vertical orientation the rated max drops in half to just 5.5lbs..it is also very big and depending on closed length of the tripod can require a longer bag..Have one but my others are 488RC2's..And like stated earlier not macro friendly..impossible to make minute adjustments required for great extreme close-ups..

On Popflash.Photo there is a Tokina 12-24 listeds used for I believe $250..You can post process most if not all CA out..The build is solid and read some of the reviews on Amazon.com for the Tokina vs the Nikon 12-24..imagine there are similar reviews on Canon there as well.. I'm happy with mine..I paid $400 used and feel it was money well spent.

I have two of the SLR Gorillapods..used one on D300 with the Tokina 12-24 and mounted combo on poles benches and rails while taking shots in foggy Newport Harbor..worked as good as advertised..For the price and portability it offers a great addition to your useful gear.. I recommend highly having at least one in your bag..I use either one or both to place remote flash in using the CLS wireless capabilities. It's both small and light enough to earn a place in your bag..

Haven't read entire discussion but in my experience the "Advanced Amateur" is the least of the Pro's worries..It seems Aunt Rose and Uncle Willie with their P&S cameras and flash do more to disrupt the paid help's job than a polite and briefed "AA". Then there are the teens wanting to get every shot the Pro is attempting to record..Still some Pros are more comfortable working alone...Whatever the Pro wants is what you need to respect, even if it means stowing most if not all of your gear.. Seen too many weddings turn into a near paparazzi mob.
Thinking of buying a Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8
