battery problem solved!! in Medium Format Posted February 20, 2008 ok this has been an ongoing dilema for gx680 owners for a long while i have noticed. I just got my 680-II several months ago and i also finnaly had my only 2 batteries go dead. im no electronics genius by any stretch but i do know what i have done has proven to work beautifuly and with noooo problems whatsoever. this is plain and sweet with no BS.... all i did was solder 2 wires, basicly the same size wires that are on the inside of a gx battery pack and connect them to a canon bp-511 battery which will fit most of ther digital slrs (5D, 10- d etc) to the positive and negative gontacts directly and then i custom cut the old gx battery pack and mounted the bp511 battery to it and voila! and yes i soldered directly to the battery i didnt give a shit and no it didnt melt the plastic. u can figure out ur own way to mount the battery but i dremeled the battery box and left the prongs and soldered directly to the prongs and the to the battery and now i can take it on and off and yes i have to desolder it to recharge it but who cares it cost me all of 10 dollars to buy a soldering gun as i already had the batteries... done deal<div></div>
