I too am a little disappointed by the negative comments I have seen regarding this photo. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think this photo captures a unique moment and is a great photo just for that. The exposure, composition, etc are also great, but what really "makes" it for me is that the moment has been captured so well. Bravo.

This photo has a mesmerizing stillness about it. The bird does disturb that stillness quite a bit as has already been noted. Still this is a fantastic image. -

I'm a beginner myself, but I think I would have gotten rid of the denser looking trees near the bottom and bottom right of the picture to simplify it a bit. I like the blue of the sky and, to tell you the truth, I've never gotten a silhouette I've been really proud of. Keep shooting and posting. -
You don't see too many pictures like this on Photo.net. I think the background distracts from the subject. Something less busy in the background would help, I think.

I just read Jacques' comment on this picture in the brouhaha thread concerning the Photo of the Week and agree to a certain extent. It is a great picture and I think the reason that more people haven't commented on it thus far is because it doesn't jump out at you. I'm not an expert on aesthetics, but simply covering the right-hand portal does seem to focus my attention more on the figure.

I do like the sketch effect and I think it works well because of the context of a conversation on a stoop. I agree that the subject is the two men on the stoop, but I'm afraid that cropping in might remove some of that context.

I also like the pose and fashion of the model in the picture, but I would have opted for a closer shot to get rid of a lot of the space in the frame. Still a very good shot, though. -
I think that the title is a little off, but the picture is one I definitely like. The reflections on the poster are a little distracting, but I'm not sure how much you could have done towards avoiding that. I like the meaning that it conveys to me, though.
