1.
Thanks Randall for your tips.
I have heard of the very good quality Arca release plates, but they are way too expensive for me but I was looking at associating the Vanguard SBH100 (which includes a rather clever release mechanism and come with 2 plates) with the Tracker AP364.

  2.
Hi,
I am in the process of purchasing a monopod for my D300 + the following lenses (Tokina 12-24mm f/4, Tamron 17-50 as well as a Tamron 70-300).
I have the choice of either the Vanguard Tracker AP364(Aluminium with max height of 176cm) or the Velbon Geo Pod 64(Carbon with max height of 167cm).
I am 1.81m tall and either of the above will suit me but I still have to decide on the Carbon or Aluminium option as the Vanguard monopod is cheaper and well built.
I would be grateful if you could help me in deciding.
Thanks
3.
Hi All,
Thanks very much for your views, I will have a really good look tat this body as I will have the chance to try it. I shot my son's birthday party 3 weeks ago with the 35mm DX on the D300 and was quite please with the result.

  4.
Hi
I am thinking of buying a light DSLR body(D3000 body only) for street photography. I already got the D300 and I should be using the 35mm DX, the 55-200 VR as well as the SB400 flash for fill ins.
I would like to get some views of the above combo as I think in spite of it limitations, it should do for standard photos( at iso 200 to 400) with proper exposure and fast AF.
Cheers
5.
I am getting a Nikon D90 + grip as second body and currently using a Lowepro Rezo 160 for my D300 without grip.
I like the tight fit of the D300 in this bag.Would the D90+grip combo fit in this bag?
Cheers
6.
I would like to know if there is a lense cap that fits the 77mm diameter of the Tokina 12-24mm with the thin UV filter attached.
The filter has no threads at the front as it is a thin version for wide angle lense and the original snap on Tokina (very good without the filter on) cannot be fitted.
Thanks

  7.
Hi All,
I just saw a advert concerning a Hahnel HN D300 battery grip at about $150 which is quite cheaper that the the Nikon one.
I wonder if it is value for money as I am keen in having the vertical grip for portraits.
8.
Shun,
I must admit that that apart from the slower AF of the lense, it has great sharpness even at f/1.4 - 1.8.
It is also (in my opinion) easier to focus at these large apatures.
9.
Hi all,
I just bought an AFS 50mm f/1.4 lense for my D300 and would be grateful if you could share with me your experience.
The numerous posts about this lense concerns photos shot with the D700.
Thanks
10.
Hi All,

I am wondering if it was worth changing from the Tamron 90mm F/2.8 Di Macro to the Tokina 100mm F/2.8 used on the D300.
On the durability side the Tokina may win as I already have a 12-24mm model but on the IQ side I am a bit undecided.
Your comment would be much appreciated.
Cheers
11.
Hi,
I am a Nikon D300 owner and usually shoot Raw with files on average 12-15mb, I find that Nikon NX is quite slow to open and process these picture files.
I would like to know the best PC configuration for running properly this application and which offers a good Cost/Performance ratio.
My current PC setup is a AMD 3200+ 64 with 2GB DDR400 and 480Gb P-ATA HDisk space (3 X 160Gb).
Thanks
12. Thanks all for your answers, I normally shoot with Sandisk Extreme III(4Gb and 1Gb) but these are 133X and I am

    well satisfied with them.

I think that the alternative is the Sandisk Ultra II 8Gb with is at around AUD80.

  13. For me the main difference between my lense and the classier Nikkor glass is the build quality and taking about

the distorsion at the wide end I do not notice it when taking landscape photos. For amateur use, this setup suits me

fine and I must add that I also have the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 which I used on an F80 which I still own.

  14. Hi

I was asking myself if anyone tried using the Nikon SB400 + Stofen diffuser for Wedding photos using high ISO

settings such as ISO 400 or 800 on a D300.

This would compensate for the low Guide no and the D300 having a very low noise performer, that would be a light

but efficient alternative to the more powerful but more cumbersome speedlights (SB600 or Sb800)

Could I have you comments please.

    David
