    Taxi

I love the photo.  I find the shot a little too close to the taxi on the left side.  I like very much how your DOF gradually trails off and the foreground is so crisp, very pleasing.  Great.

Well Carlos, you are on point directly.  Even as I posted it I was thinking the same thing and had trouble articulating it.  Most of my photos at this point have been based on an impression or just an outright experiment to build my skill.  I can feel and see my skill and eye building but I have reached a transition point.  I have no art background what so ever having been trained as a research scientist, photography kind of found me 3 years ago.  I do wish to say things with powerful images but feel as though I can only make sounds at this point.

Yesterday as I posted this and as you commented on it I was inquiring to my local universities Fine Art Photography program to address these issues.  Perhaps I am wrong and you must be born with an empathy for photography to do great things but I will try and immerse myself in an atmosphere with others to help me do this.  Photo.net has been extremely helpful in this regard also.

This photo of Kristyn I was trying to convey a sense of calm beauty, a relaxed confidence with a bit of flirt packaged in a solid image with compelling colours.  Apparently it was not well received :)

Thank you for your comment, it was 1 of 2 I have had in the past 3 years at photo.net that made me pause, think and re-evaluate.  It was also very timely and on point.

    Regards,

    Hi

    Thank you Igor and Bulent,

The lines are real and not processing.  I did remove allot of acne from his face and tweak the colours though.

I have found over the years that my favourites are usually not the same as others.  It is very helpful to see through another's eyes.  I too prefer Hi over Three is a Crowd but I was curious to see what others thought and why.

I have much to learn and experiment with, your comments are very much appreciated.

Thank you to Cherene and Richard also.  Positive feedback is encouraging.

    Kind regards,

    James

No, I only altered her eye colour in the black and white photo with coloured eyes, even then I tried to remain loyal to her eye colour.  All other photos are mostly as is.  Her eye colour would change from a green to gray to blue depending on a number of factors.  This shot was taken at twilight where the others were in mostly in full sun.

Her left eye is definitely out of focus.  I did this intentionally to draw your gaze to her right eye as I felt it was more intimate.  It was an experiment and I find that I liked the effect.  Thanks for your critiques.  j

Thank you for your comments they are very helpful.  Over the last 3 years I have been taking photographs I have seen a steady move towards more sophisticated photos with better composition and lighting.  Comments from Photo.net have gone a long way to help me develop a style and improve my work.

I too was having difficulties deciding on a crop for this photo.  However, this is the shot I took and decided to leave it unaltered to bring out more of the setting.  I feel the pillar adds a weight to her gaze and I did not want to confine her.
