  1. Dan,

I had initialy selected the 16-35 and not the 17-40 because it was faster and I could evenually use it for other means (i.e indoor parties or family reunion..etc). Maybe I wrongly assumed that it was as good as the 17-40 for landscape? What do you think? Landscape is really my top priority right now.

As for 18mm or 10mm? I don't know. What I get with my kit lens is OK, but if below 18mm can be better then looks like the EFS 10-22 would be the choice. Never saw what you get at 10mm.

  2. Hello everybody,

First I am glad I discovered this site.

I am new to the DSLR world but have been shooting a Powershot A80 since it went

out years ago. Had some experience with a Nikhormat film SLR some 30 years ago.

Last year, I bought an XTI with the kit lens and had some fun for several

months while learning. Now I want to concentrate on landscape photo and need a

good wide. Have been reading a lot. What I want is to have the best XTI-lens

technical combination possible at this point in time to produce the best

    quality pictures possible.

I would prefer an EF lens as I feel I might be going for a full frame in a year

or two. Not sure yet. What I am sure is that I don't want to sacrifice the end

result. So if the EF-S 10-22 is the best for my XTI, I will buy that one, even

if I may move to a full frame one day.

So which one will I be more happy with:

    1) EF-S 10-22

    2) EF-S 17-55

    3) EF 16-35L II

    4) EF 14L II

    Thanks in advance

    Claude
