Happy Nikon Wednesday! On a recent walk around Bantry I came across this wonderful piece of art. Nearby is a plaque on which the artist (Paddy Campbell) writes: "This sculpture expresses the compassion of the people of Bantry and Ireland for men, women and children of all races and creeds who lost their lives in this bay. The two figures convey love, loss, anguish, forgiveness, peace, reaching, letting go..."

Happy Nikon Wednesday! Some of the one I like so far:

Simon Jenkins - great environmental portrait
Michael ferron - Wow, great texture and pattern, wouldn't work nearly as well in colour.
Finlay Jolliffe - As one who has tried to photograph Pufffins, I'm impressed!
Pascal Burel - love the light on those sunflowers

Here's some hay bails taken a couple of weeks ago with Galley Head, (Co. Cork, Ireland) in the background + LOTS of grain thanks to in being developed in in Rodinal!

Happy Nikon Wednesday! - Lots of great photos so far; some of my favourites are Jeannean's insect macro, Rich's sunset and Martin's Elephants. Great to see a couple of shots taken with F100's too, by Vince and Shiang.
My picture is of the signpost in Ballinspittle, Co. Cork, a lovely little village close to the sea.

"Rescue". We were visiting Baltimore (Co. Cork) when we witnessed a rescue of a man who had been injured aboard his yacht (when the boom swung across and hit him on the back of the head and knocked him into the sea). The helicopter and lifeboat combined to get him back into the harbour and away to Cork regional hospital about an hour an a half away by car but probably ten minutes away for the rescue helicopter.

I came across this Blacksmith near Killarney, Co. Kerry. It was very dark in the Forge and I only had ISO 100 film. With the 50mm f1.8 wide open and metering off the red hot iron the shutter speed was still about 1 second. So I attempted to try and record the movement of the craftsman rather than get things pin sharp...

Happy Wednesday. All brilliant. My favourites so far:
Jose's black and White driftwood picture
Matthew's Australian drainage dam
Narayan's lamp-lit tree leaves
Peter's Welsh waterfall
My picture was taken whilst driving home, the light looked good so I stopped the car. I wish I'd had a red orange or even yellow filter to bring out the sky detail more, but will know to do that next time.

It's been a few weeks since my last picture in this forum, (I have been having a lot of fun with my Olympus OM-1 and 35mm lens recently). It's great to be able to switch between old mechanical cameras and more modern techno-cameras and enjoy the benefits of both. This photo was taken recently in my back garden ("yard" for you guys across the atlantic)!
