Does anyone have an inkling of what logic the K7 uses when you bracket a shot in TAV. I would have thought it would just adjust the ISO, but it seems to be using the Program Mode processing to set shutter speed and aperture.

P is great unless shooting multiple exposures for HDRI

I am going to learn to optically compress the dynamic range of a scene during capture and restore the dynamic range in post processing. I will then share the process.

Bang for the Buck, the K-x seems to be the place to be for low-light capability.

If you are going to be using a lens with some reach, don't forget to bring along a cpl (polarizer) to cut the haze. Be careful using a cpl with a wide lens however.

K-7 review

Yet another favorable K7 review:

You have just turned what I thought would be a useless feature into a must have. Great editing and shooting.

Kodak owns a boatload of sensor patents. Maybe Kodak still relishes the old film production model but updated with digital sensors. It would make sense to sell top-class sensors to Pentax.

My FedEx guy used to ring and run. Now he does creative things like leaning my packages up against my garage door to see if I will run over it when leaving the house or (when it is raining) putting my package directly under the downspout.

RF energy (radios and other sources) have been known to affect digital sensors producing results similar to what you experienced. I recently saw some photos taken by a Canon DSLR with similar interference patterns caused by powerful electromagnets in the vicinity of the camera. If the problem does not exist now that you are away from the race track, you probably were the victim of some strong RF interference.

Sigma and Tamron are probably ready to jump into the gap created by perceived-overpriced Pentax glass.

Maybe we should email Costco about carrying the K7 from the git-go!

Since Pentax works with its users by not obsoleting lenses, it would make sense for them to go FF on the lenses before they are ready to produce a FF body. It cuts the cost of making both cropped sensor and FF lenses (since FF lenses work on both) and allows them to bide their time until a FF body makes sense for them.

I keep hoping that in a few years, Pentax will reward its loyal followers with hot-swap sensors designed for different environments. It would be like changing film in the old days to get a sensor just right for the situation. It would also allow a particular body to evolve as the technology improved.

I find it interesting how clear the image in the water (reflection) is in relation to the actual birds in the air. Wonder if that phenomena has a name?

Fujifilm has brought out a new P&S with the technology to combine photosites to get different effects. Called EXR it can be used to get low noise low light photographs. Additionally, it can increase dynamic range in a second mode. Since Fujifilm seems to be bowing out of the DSLR realm, I am hoping that Pentax will cut a deal with them to incorporate this technology in the next KxxD model.

I hope Pentax realizes some of us have larger hands (and arthritus) and a too small body would do us a disservice.

K10D and K20D both have the features you asked about.

Water Shot
in Pentax

You could just crop out the background in the current shot.
-
The MTF function seems to work with Sigma and Tamron lenses as well as Pentax. Does the K10D get the MTF data from the lens chips on third party lenses?
-
Related Question: You can set the K10D program for MTF. This sets the sweetspot for the attached lens. Is this information provided by the on lens chip or does the camera compute it itself?

That waiting plaque; does it mean I should never go to a restaurant or pub on a even date if I expect service? LOL
