1.
If you can't decide why not split the difference and go with the Sigma 70mm f/2.8, it has better reviews than either of those, even the 100mm Canon which I have, and would probably make a good portrait lens on the 1.6 crop 40D... Just a thought...
Have a good one...Tater...

  2.
I guess I got one like DeLoyd's, it is a YongNuo and it came from Mei Gong in HongKong, and it works well over 75', I can't remember exactly what I gave for it but know it was well under $25, been a while... It works on my 20D, 5D, & 40D...
3.
Chad, if your film camera/lens is not EOS then I suggest, if it will fit your needs of course, purchase the 40D kit that has the 28-135mm IS lens with it. The lens usually runs +/-$400 but with the kit it only adds +/-$200... I didn't really need the lens but at that price I bought the kit and am pleased that I did as it is a good lens.
4. I agree with Paul, PopPhoto gave the Sigma 70 DG f/2.8 Macro one heck of a rating...

"The Sigma is one of only a handful of lenses today that pulls down SQF numbers within the 90th percentile all the

way out to our maximum magnification (20x24 inches)."

  5. When you do the reseller ratings above @ 2.58 on a scale of 10... WOW.... Then I saw on the side bar 2x1GB crucial RAM @ $16.99 that I had just bought from Crucial @ double that, I clicked on it and when it took me to the actual buy page it listed it as 1 GB @ $16.99... No times 2 involved....

    Seems odd to me...

  6. I went with the 5D after a couple of years with the 20D, like others I used the 20D more for the Tele lens.. I kept an EF 300 L IS + 1.4 EX II on the 20D and an EF 24-105 L IS on the 5D. I did recently however get a 40D w/28-135 IS kit and it has taken the place of the 20D which I gave to the wife along with the 28-135 IS that came with the 40D. I find that the 40D is closer to the 5D than the 20D was, you know picture styles etc.

I don't have as much head scratching between the 5D & 40D as I had with the 20D. These old eyes can see that 3" LCD better also. .lol. .

  7. I kinda like it as it is. It lets you jump to your setting and make minor changes for light etc. and then the next time you go to that custom setting you are back to where you had it set.

For instance, I use C3 for my grandaughters basketball games and I have 6.5 fps, ISO-1000, AI-Servo, etc. set, anyway when I go into a different Gym. with different lighting I can temporarly change the ISO or whatever and not mess with the theme of the thing. In otherwords it is in like custom a basic setting, that can be tweeked without loosing the basic set... Dang that don't even make sense to me and I wrote it! I better hush before I prove I am an idiot.lol.(I think it is too late).

  8. I got a wireless from ebay like the other poster said, and it worked with my 20D, 40D, & 5D, I just got it and checked it out and it seems to be fine, it is a "Yong Nuo" and was $10.99 + $11.99 shipping, I couldn't believe it.... Just go to ebay and type in canon wireless remote and I think it will come up as will several others from China and probably the same thing or there abouts... Good luck...JoeR...
  9. Marco-I just received mine yesterday and it worked fine... Installed the cr2 battery in the receiver, turned off the cameras and turned off the receiver, hooked up to cameras as per instructions, turned on camera and receiver, and it worked fine on Canon 20D, 40D, & 5D... It was raining so I didn't get to check it at any distance, but a friend has one and he has checked his to the 100 meter distance stated and it worked as stated....

    Have a good one...JoeR...
