From where I'm standing the human figure is the subject of the photo, not an icing on a cake. And the photographer's/viewer's connection to the person, or rather - the lack of it - which makes it quite sad somehow. Then, I might be mistaken of course.

That said, it is beautifully framed. In form and colour.

Really like the colour palette. Comp too, though I would like to see it in a less tall format, a 5:7 or so. Also I feel the vignetting is a bit of an overkill, as if it draws a little too much attention to itself.

Had a quick look at your photos, you've been to some really nice places.

It must have gotten lost in the translation then. Vulgarity was indeed uncalled for, but the thought never crossed my mind that what I said might offended anyone. If it did, I apologize. But I refuse to accept that others than model-figured females should not be photographed nude, because of stereotypical beauty values. I do agree with you on one thing though, that the "great job, awesome!!!!" posts are useless.

"It is a deviation from the typical nudes..." and if for nothing else, it should be applauded. Fuck there is some serious narrow-mindedness going on at this site.

But then, one out of four is perhaps not that bad...

  1. With such a symmetrical subject it puzzles me some that you didn't shoot it either from dead center, or at a steeper angle. As it is it feels very in_between imo. Fascinating subject though.

    Stiched?

  2. Actually Markku, I'm a bit embarrassed that I did that. The photo is good - very good - as it is, and though I do suspect what makes me do this occationally, best I don't ebarrass myself anymore.

Of course there are endless possibilities for clicking a pic, making a photograph, or whatever people wish to call it. Pointing it out only points out one's own inability to make decicions, and stick to them (I think, right now, but I might change my mind about it someday ;-)
    "Shot, done." (I'm taking notes)

  3. I do visit, perhaps not that often, but from time to time. I just don't feel like saying much, and when the only thing I can think of is "hey, nice photo" I try to resist the urge to say it loud. And while a lot of the photos I look at make me feel stuff or appeal to me in different ways - and do indeed deserve comments - for some reason the words don't come.

But thanks for kind words. I will visit again, but I can't promise I'll leave traces..

  4. I tried to find a mail adress for you to send the cropped image to. Didn't, so I put it here (I'll take it down someday soon, or, if you want that to happen right away just say the word). But again, I know it's a nasty habit, not so much the reconstructing how I would, for myself, but actually suggesting it... wellwell ,-)

  5. I can't help but fantasizing about this shot cropped around the two women's heads. I know I know, it's a nasty habit to go about suggesting how others should do their photography (or whatever, for that matter), not least when the photo is perfectly fine to begin with.

  6. For a moment I thought you had been in my neck of the woods, there was something awefully familiar with the building, colours and all. But then, I assume there are plenty of similar ones scattered around Scandinavia..

    Such timing!
