1.
The last question that was placed in the forum regarding this dates back to 2001. I've been trying to find a heavy duty, padded (of course) replacement strap for the Nikon 600mm lens I own. I carry it with the provided lens (LN-1) and is not padded. When I'm not carrying it, it's on the Gitzo tripod. The new 800mm Nikon lens strap is padded but not compatible. There are two U shaped eyelets on the lens. Any ideas??

00cmvY-550708684.jpg.d3fee3eca8e0c29bac263f5ef309c0d9.jpg

  2.
This is a first for me. The zoom ring on my 14-24 is locked up. Won't budge. The focus ring works fine. It's out of warranty and I've contacted the seller and a Nikon repair man in the area. The lens hasn't been exposed to moisture and has not been dropped or abused. I have no explanation. Any ideas?

  3.
I've seen this set up. The exception was the photographer was using a Gitzo Serier 3 tripod and he was using the Canon version. If I remember, he was using a MKIV and a Sigma 500mm f/4.5 lens. The traveling bit is one reason why I choose the BH55. The full Wimberley will have to wait awhile or maybe not at all. I'll just have to see how it goes with the initial set up. My tripod and accessories are on the way. Thanks for your input. I'll keep updates and post photos when the time comes.

What do you think for the Nikon 600mm f/4 AF-s VRII

  5.
Oh my goodness. This moon shot is beyond anything conceivable. 2 Tripods? Beautiful. Thanks for the tips on pods guys. Damn those series 5's are over a grand. What are you views about ball heads. I know the Wimberlies are recommended. How do you feel about the Jobu Design Pro2 Gimbal Head?

  6.
There may be a 600 in the near future. I want to stabilize the lens the right way, the first time around, not 3 or 4 attempts later. I am 6'2" and do not want to have to extend a center tube. I will take any suggestions and reviews into consideration. Most of the forum comments are seriously out dated regarding the 600 f/4. Thanks for your help

  7.
I think I have a fairly steady hand when panning. I twist at the waist. I've considered using a monopod but I feel it might be restricting. Most of the shots I have are on overcast days. I try to expose for that, but I can go from light to shadows rather quickly. Auto ISO is a good recommendation as well as shutter priority. As far as buying into more focal length, I really see the nikon 24-70 as the next big purchase. It took me nearly a year to pay off my 70-200. Here's a sample shot of an Osprey I took a couple of days ago. I see blur and or noise.

00W1o9-230181584.JPG.38fc1d211d46cc4f3b83a4b186c568db.JPG

  8.
I've tried higher ISO's and f/stops, faster shutter speeds and slower ones, 51 area focus and 21. All done with continous focus. I can't afford those 8K lenses so I'm stuck with what I have. I'm using a Nikon 2x AF-s teleconverter with my 70-200 f/2.8VR. Just about all the flight shots I've taken are shot in manual exposure rather than shutter priority or other settings. Of course the 2x jacks up my f/stop to 5.6 but I don't believe that is the problem I'm having. I have yet to achieve a sharp flight shots. The frustration is overwhelming. Do I hear a Canon in my future? Just trying to get an idea of what settings I should be utilizing.

  9.
What causes the bluish or purple haze on the edges of my photos? I used a D300 with a Tamron AF75-300mm f/4-5.6 and a Quantaray 2x teleconverter. I'm getting the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR in the next couple of days and am wondering if it is just the bad quality of lens used or if it has something to do with settings. My shots of eagles in the trees cropped and resized have horrible bluish haze on the eagles and the branches and leaves.

00Syv4-122343884.JPG.51ebeed659794517878e0ef6bb80a830.JPG

  10. B&H sent me another replacement camera because of autofocus problems. The new one is doing the same thing.

Sometimes focusing and sometimes not. Attached is my 70-200mm f/2.8 VR. Do I assume it may be the lens and

send it to Nikon (out of warranty), or is it a setting issue that I'm not aware of, or do I see how far I can throw it?
