I have an old Seagull - a 4B! I bought it for $50 and the lens is wonderful and pin sharp. I still use it to get big trannies for making poster prints. It is light, easy to use, has a wonderful bright viewfinder and I love it.
I also have a Hasselblad 553ELX, 3 Canon DSLRs and a Canon T90 film camera (used for long astronomical shots). The TLR stands up with the best of them.

  2. As I have now purchased the Hasselblad 553elx, I've decided to sell this one.

I purchased it at an online deceased estate auction of a camera collector's collection. It is in good order apart from a

little lifting of the leatherette on the focussing hood (I'm not sure what type of adhesive is best, so I've hesitated to

muck with it) and the depth of field chart, normally set into the focussing knob, is missing.

Lens is good and sharp. I've mainly shot transparencies with it and they are big, bold and great for enlarging. It has a

strap (nice broad one) and I'm including the cable release.

Note TLRs are NOT suitable for action unless you can capture it at a fixed spot. This is due to the reversal of the

image in the waist level viewfinder.

I also have downloaded manual (for a 4A, but they are similar in operation).

    $AUD125 plus postage.

The attached photo is a generic one of a 4B (but it is exactly the same as mine), I will take some specific ones of

mine at the weeknd and make them available to anyone interested.
00Q7m5-55853584.jpg.adbc0f2207527e113393fdac12e026cc.jpg

  3. This is prety mcg what I thought, thank you all for the answers, most informatie. I have a 150 lens, and will be looking to buya couple nmore but down the track a bit.

    What's a mutar, Maek?

Jeff, is that a 1.4 teleconverter? How much were you thinking of for it? You can PM me or email to odille@onthenet.com.au

  4. More questions folks, and I thank you all for the wonderful generosity of the answers on here for ignoramuses like

    myself.

    1. Will this fit my 553elx?

    2. The one I'm looking at is sold as is and the seller says he cannot open the battery compartment. Likely to be

just jammed or inexperience with the product? Could it be a big problem?

Price currently is round $165US incl. postage.

that's really helpful. It is a chrome lens, and I thought I needed to pull the cam thingy towards the camera but I

wasn't sure, and I certainly didn't want to damage anything. I downloaded the manual from that site (for the elx) but it

shows the later lens with the button..

Love to have a fellow photographer to stay if you come here, it is just me and my partner and the 4 cats, we arttle

around in our big rental house, and have plenty of room, 2 soafbeds and a couple of single beds on teh glassed

inverandah that are great in summer.

Lots of beautfiul stuff to photograph round here too, see my gallery at http://odille.senfolio.com and there's an email

link there. If you email me just say you're from this forum.

    Cheers

  6. It has been over 30 years since I used a Blad and that was the 80mm lens.

Sounds awfully stupid, but how do I change the shutter speed? I've been using 35mm film and digital so long I've lost

    my way!

Did these lenses come with operating instructions? If so, can anyone point me to a link to download from the web?

I have purchased this, a 553ELX and a prism finder (the basic one), and am vacillating between a film and polaroid

film back. I hope one day to get a digital back for it, but that's a long way down the track.

Meanwhile, if anyone can help me work this lens you'll have my undyiong gratitude, and if you want somehwere to

stay on the sunny Gold Coast of Oz if visiting from overseas you've got one! (You wil be sharing with 4 cats . . . .)

  7. This item is on eBay.com.au, Item number: 360060986438 if the link is cut short. (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Eyelike-

    Mamiya_W0QQitemZ360060986438QQihZ023QQcategoryZ31388QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

    )

Is this the type of digital back you can only use in a studio? Whould it be practical for outside landscape work? I

ask becasue I have never seen this product before, and it seems very cheap for a digital back for large format.

That said, I can't afford that many $ ATM, so someone else here might be interested.

  8. Is it still possible to get film for the Polaroid film backs I often see on eBay? Please bear in mind I am in Australia.

Can anyone tell me the film code or size or whatever so I can do an Australian search for it?

    Thanks in advance.

  9. I have a Seagull TLR, I bought it from a camera collector's deceased estate auction . Maybe I've been lucky, mine's

a 'good 'un'. The lens is sharp and seems to be good quality, and I've been very happy with the results. For what the

original enquiry described, it would do very very well.

Bearing all that in mind, I have just bought myself a used Hassy 533elx, prism finder and 150 lens (still looking for a

film back, I wanted a 645 but they all seem either very pricey or they won't ship to Oz) with a view to one day (when

I save LOTS of pennies) fitting a digital back on it. I'll use film for special occasion shots up til then. My main

reason was that I found the reverse image disconcerting, and I had a 500C 30 years ago, which I loved, but it was

stolen and I never did get the money to replace it.

My everyday camera(s) are 2 x Canon EOS 35mm digital baodies and some lenses.
