The Planar is an excellent choice. I was considering it for my M3. If I only had the money ... (kids, college
etc.). However, compared to the Summicron, its image has got the reputation of being rather crisp.

Sorry, Sean. What happened to you is what I am always afraid of. Nevertheless, I'll keep eyes & ears open. In hindsight, do you really think the Mission is the best place to go to at night?

With my eyesight not getting better over the years, I am considering to exchange
the stock diopter of my M3 with a Leica +1.0 Diopter Correction Lens (# 14351).
However, I am not sure if I can perform the exchange myself or if I need a
camera mechanic for that. Any experiences? How would I have to proceed?
As for the optical strength, I am relying on the advice of my optometrist, who
is an experienced photographer himself.

Hello,
I am considering to purchase a portrait lens for my M3. As my budget is somewhat
limited, I look for a Nikkor 85mm as an alternative to the 90mm Summicron, Elmar
or Elmarit. For this, I am wondering if there is an adapter Nikon lens --> Leica
M body. Any experiences or advices out there with this combination?
Thank you for your comments.

M3 + Summicron 35
-
I always carry a little camera in the pocket of my motorcycle jacket or in my briefcase respectively. After my second digital camera had gone south I made the radical decision to get something more solid. With view to one of my sons' birthday in summer I got a Rollei 35 SE which I like very much. And he will like it as well. But beware, it feels like a brick in your pocket. For myself I got a Zeiss Ikon Contessa which is a masterpiece of camera engineering. Something like a Leica doppelgaenger for your pocket. Love at first sight. Pictures are razor sharp. It's exactly what I had always wanted.

Hello,
after extensive research on this forum I purchased a HP G4050 photo scanner to
scan in 35mm/MF negatives and slides. I plan to use it for my archive only;
occasional enlargements will be made by a professional lab.
So far so good. However, as the manual and CD which came with the scanner seem
to be designed for illiterates rather than for newbies who are trying to do
serious work with this machine, my scanning results lag far behind the the
optical capabilities of Summicron, Planar & Co.
Could you give me away some tricks how to do better (in terms of resolution,
format etc.) or a good website which I could study in peace?
Thank you very much in advance.

I have inherited an M3 in good technical and cosmetic condition. As it has not
been used for quite some time, I plan to give it a proper CLA before
recommissioning. Any suggestions as to who could do it in California? I live in
the San Francisco Bay Area.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Without wanting to hijack this thread, I am wondering if it is possible to work with the Biogon 35 using the existing framelines?

Thank you very much for your helpful replies. As it looks that I can get a good deal on a Biogon 35, I am wondering which external viewfinder you could recommend.

Hello,
I've been lurking in this forum for quite a while; now I'm venturing out with my
first question, which is, I hope, not too generic for the experts congregated here:
Some time ago I have purchased a Leica M3 (# > 1m) plus a Leitz Summicron 50mm
at an irresistible price, both in good shape. As the Leica virus keeps unfolding
its full potential, I am considering the purchase of a 35mm lens. With my wallet
depleted I had to bin the idea of a Summicron in favour of a Zeiss Biogon 2/35
which is considerably less expensive but plays in the same league.
However, I am not quite sure if I can use the Biogon with M mount without
further problems. How should I proceed?
Thank you for your advice.
