Detail Information on the Viewfinder of New Canon F-1
The reading of the aperture ring only works with new FD lenses (second illustration from top), not with the SSC lenses and for me this is a reason ...
-
If it is the Canon F-1N (1982 Model) i would choose the FDn version. Only with the new FD lenses you can see the selected aperture in the finder, it doesnt work with the SSC lenses.
-
2,8/35mm SSC, are you sure of it. It even does not exist in the Canon Camera Museum View by series - Canon Camera Museum
-
is it possible to post a picture of the rare FD 2,8/35mm SSC. I know a TS 2,8/35mm SSC (tilt and shift) and a FDn 2,8/35mm (has SSC coating) but I have never seen a FD 2,8/35mm breech lock with SSC engraving. The standard breech lock 35mm was a 3,5 SSC.

2000 ASA for the first model of the F-1 is correct,as it is mentioned in the Canon F-1 manual. You can go 1 step higher than 1600 (there is a little green dot below 1600) and that is 2000, just checked it with my F-1.

no Tim, I think there is no actual film available that is 100% like APX because there a no more masterrolls available.
Here is a link to a comparison http://www.apug.org/forums/forum37/122844-silvermax-v-apx-100-whats-difference-if-any.html
You may search for Silvermax or an APX substitute on the net, it is a little difficult for me to explain it because english it not my native language ...
-
If you like the old APX so much you should give the ADOX Silvermax a try.
-
@Tim "APX 100 new emulsion" is made in the UK by Harman/Ilford. It is a variant of Kentmere 100 but is is not 100% equal, its a little bit different.

Hi Dirk,

there is a german instruction with some pictures here http://www.aldo-net.com/Canon/ , maybe it will help a little. I never tried this and would suggest a professional CLA to.

In a German Book I found that there was an Remote Control 60MF for the Winder F available, also a 10m Extension Cord. As far as I know the LC-1 uses a 2,5mm plug, so maybe you can build your own Remote Control. This worked on all my A-1 and AE-1 series stuff, it is the same plug as on the LC-1. Also Canon had a Remote Switch 3 for the A Series with a 10m Cord.

have you tried this link
I don't know if I have posted this link before but I find this text very helpful with the 1.35V issue.
